I'm sure that I have read something about this somewhere but now can't find it.

In the 15-10-09 (04:45) tt, at approximately 07:20 I'm tried to route 5N24 from Stirling South reverse into platform 6 and got a "Route not ready to release" message. It's now 07:25 and I'm still getting this message and 5N24 is now holding a couple of other trains up.

How long is this message/situation likely to continue?

Thanks

See the box notes for Stirling Middle: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=simulations:CentralScotland:CentralScotlandBox#stirling_station_south_end_(duty_s1)-_pre_egip

Shunt routes involving SM36 and SM57 are set counter-sequntially; that is, those signals must have a route set from them before a route can be set to them.

Yeah, my mistake. I've just tried that and of coarse it worked.

I don't know how common it was, but it certainly wasn't unknown. Certainly was the case in the 1965 Euston PSB. I guess it was a way of ensuring a train didn't stop in the middle of the layout and block absolutely everything, if something were to go wrong.
