Hi all.

Been messing around with creating some timetables during lockdown and I recently started one on this SIM.

I know it has been mentioned before that this was released by mistake, as I've noticed the level crossings at South Acton and Bollo Lane don't work (the crossing controls are not there. I've even clicked on the black area where the control should be and waited and found nothing) but I've noticed there is a v5 Loader timetable for 1985.

Just thought I'd mention this just in case it's been missed or something.

Stu

Are you talking about the scrolly beta of the sim?

That one was released a number of years ago and not a loader sim. Both the original paged and beta scrolly are .exe simulations.

Hi Albert.

No sorry I was talking about the one that's on the present loader sims list.

See the attached (I hope) photo.
Hope it comes out ok.

From this thread it looks like that was a development version that was accidentally made available in the Loader a few years ago, and you must've run for updates at exactly the right time to get it. Unless you somehow got insider access to the file.

You could check the date of the NLL.sim file in your SimSig folder to check when you downloaded it. (As opposed to the .exe simulations, the .sim files appear to get the date of downloading on them rather than the date the sim was released.)

I have that sim as well, download dated as 24/12/16, aprox 1232
Would be great if development could be finished and the sim released. I enjoyed the scrolly version.

As previously stated, This was a development version that had accidentally been pushed to the updater. It is a version that was not fully developed (hence that missing level crossing controls) and had not yet been put through the testing process that all sims are put through.

As I understand, it is still in development, however 1 of the more complex things to be implemented is the chaining. (An overview of how chaining work was given by Headshot119 in this post)

NNL chains to a significant number of other simulations due to the way it snakes around North London.
The sim in its current form (using the Signal Number Plan) chains at the following places;
3 connections to Feltham
1 connection to the District line
1 connection to Slough New
5 connections to Wembley Mainline (of which 1 connection would be shared with the Euston Sim)
1 connection to Wembley Suburban
1 connection to Marylebone
3 connections to West Hampstead
3 Connections to Kings Cross
2 Connections to Ashford CTRL
1 Connection to East London Line
3 Connections to a Great Eastern simulation
4 Connections to West Anglia
1 Connection to LTS

This gives 29 chaining locations (with 1 being shared by 2 sims) and up to 14 different sims that chaining would need to be implemented and tested over.

Please note: Whilst I have listed 14 different sims here, this includes theoretical sims of Slough New, Great Eastern area of Liverpool Street IECC, Ashford CTRL, District Line, East London Line which I have no information about any development of them. They have been listed as chaining data would be looked at in the NLL development

There is however 21 chaining locations to sims already released (9 sims) which is not an insignificant number of chains to implement
To put into perspective;
Victoria South East has a total of 21 chaining locations to 7 sims (though 2 sims are not implemented giving only 15 locations currently)
Victoria Central has 16 chaining points in total to 5 sims,
London Bridge has 11 chaining points in total with only 7 being to released sims

It is a large job to implement and an even larger job to test, even though the tack mileage is relatively small compare to other sims

The LTS connection would be shared by the Fenchurch Street sim (although Fenchurch Street is simplified and lacks a bidirectional Up T&H), and I count 4 with Great Eastern (2 sides of Stratford HL, Carpenters Road Jn, Forest Gate).

Add to that that the layout simulated in West Anglia does not match the one in the scrolly beta NLL and Barking station has been claimed by LTS/Fenchurch St instead, and that there are at least five different routes by which a train can leave and re-enter the sim (akin to the York to Selby via Sherburn trains on York sim, which stay in F2 until they re-enter if not chained.)

No worries. I hadn't realised that the mistaken release had been pulled from the loader, so just thought I'd mention it as no one else had said anything....which makes sense if not many have It!😅😅

Just was a bit confused by the v5 Loader timetable.

Agree there would be alot of work to do on it now regarding chaining. Appreciate the hard work all the developers/testers put into these sims.

Please dear friends, this North London Line, what is the last simulation version. I have the oldest version with several screens!
And other question, I don't find in first page the free download simulations page. Does time was easy to open it. How I do now? Thanks

The original North London Line has been withdrawn, along with all of the other stand-alone .exe simulations.

The simulation has not been re-released on Loader yet. A beta version slipped out accidentally a few years ago, and was since withdrawn and deleted from the Loader.
