Double yellow aspect on signal 141 -> 653 27/02/2021 at 10:51 #137486 | |

When routing from signal 141 (Up Badminton) 'wrong line' towards signal 653 and the onwards route is not set, signal 141 will display a double yellow aspect after approach control. However, the relevant red signal 653 is rather far away. Isn't the wrong line signalling supposed to be 3-aspect rather than 4-aspect, meaning 141 would display green with a junction indicator?

Even if the wrong-line signalling is 3-aspect, it's the crossing-over that signifies that you're changing to a different signalling system and, therefore, the signal protecting the crossing should show YY, not G (I'm assuming 653 has a repeater; I don't know the area). On the ECML north of Peterborough (and visible in the sim) the signal protecting a fast-to-slow crossover is restricted to double yellow for trains crossing over, even if the next signal on the slow is green. Thanks for the insight, and you're right that the signal has a repeater. Signal 741 to 653 (Down Badminton to Down Main, staying on the wrong line) has a G aspect. AJP in games Log in to reply |

For what it's worth, signal 986 at Wantage in a similar situation does not display double yellow. Signals 4 and 931 do when routing wrong line but that is fairly logical as they are actually 2 block distances away from red.
