Saved Tyneside game at 2200 attached. In the save, 2W82 is approaching S251 en route to Metrocentre. At Metrocentre it forms 5W85 which is a reversing move to cross to the other platform and then form 2W85 back to Newcastle Central. As there is no ACI at Metrocentre and the route is already set to Metrocentre the signaller may wish to get ahead of her/himself and interpose 5W85 vice 2W82 before the train passes S251 ready for the reversing move. If that is done ARS immediately calls the route from S5371 (which is the signal at the other end of the section which 2W82 is occupying) to S245 then to S485 back towards Newcastle. The log file shows that ARS was setting the route for 5W85 even though 5W85 goes nowhere near that route. It wouldn't be correct to call it a bug as the signaller has intervened to change the data from which ARS is working but is ARS reading forward from the 5W85 timetable and following through to 2W85 then setting an appropriate route? This is not what is recorded in the log. Post has attachments. Mantis 22544 includes a note from @Jan pointing to Mantis 20865. The description of the problem in that report includes "Where a train forms a single Next train which continues in the same direction, it should attempt to join the two schedules together." This was actioned by @GeoffM on 29/06/18 with the note "Note that this is specifically for ARS routesetting purposes only. It does not affect the train itself, or the popup timetable display." So when the TD on screen is updated to 5W85, ARS reads for 5W85 and also the next schedule which is 2W85 then routes accordingly. The unexpected route does not set once 2W82 (showing on the panel as 5W85) is clear of S251 so presumably ARS does not make the call if there is no route from the section which the train is occupying to the route of 2W85. Something else I can stop worrying about! “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 27/03/2021 at 13:22 by postal Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Can you do a TD/Route data list for 5W85? That might explain why it's setting the route it is. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

251's TD berth is shared with 5371 so interposing 5W85 well off its planned path causes it to invoke the "am I on a different line" logic. It knows 5371 is a valid path from KEB South so it thinks it's already done the Metro Centre to KEB South part and sets the next route. ARS adding 2W to 5W's schedule is so misregulation doesn't occur before 2W makes its debut, and only applies to same direction onward moves with a single Next activity.
