Please could I have some clarification on the functionality of this box:

The wiki says:
Quote:
This can be used to force the train to enter, be delayed or have a loss of power. Note that these options will only apply to trains that have not entered the simulation, and that the settings only apply to the current session. When the simulation is started (or a saved session loaded) the 'Loss of power' and 'Delay' values will be randomly changed. The severity of delay and prevalence of power loss depends on the difficulty level set at the start of the simulation. Trains can be made to run early by entering a negative value in the delay field.
Can this be populated by the author (say to simulate a real world delay in a date accurate timetable), or is it purely for the F3 delay sliders to populate. And how does author entered numbers interact with the random figures generated by the F3 sliders?

Additionally can the box handle decimal values if the 1 second accurate timetable option is selected - I'm considering adding some delicate 'random' delays and early runs to a metro timetable I've started along with some extended dwell times and some decisions and rules

-RW

The train now standing on platform 2, should be on the rails

I'm fairly sure all the options in this box are not saved, and therefore can't be used for your goal.
An alternative, although not very practical, would be to have 3 instances of each train, that are marked as alternatives using a rule, with minor variations in the entry times, but same location timings.

Correct. As the Wiki states, they apply only to the session currently being run, and can be used to override the randomly generated delay for that session only.

They cannot be used to 'pre-program' delays.
