Ive just started on Monday a railway engineering course which is great but means I have to catch the train down to Lydney. Standing on the platform looking along the down main I noticed I couldn't see what I would expect for the NT1421 and NT1309 signals at the end of the DPL, it looked like a set of signs and not really a head. Does anyone happen to know this area and how these signals are?

A photo would've been useful really. Do you mean one of the ones in the attached photo with a flat face? Thats a 4 Aspect one. 3 Aspect ones have a much smaller head.

If I read the track map correctly, you would be looking at the back of the signals from the platform.

Maybe modern LED signals don't have visible lamp holders at the back?

The backs of the signals aforementioned are visible in this photo https://flickr.com/photos/146083184@N02/50975207353/

and to get an idea of what the other side looks like this other photo https://flickr.com/photos/146083184@N02/51134622280/ shows NT1306 and NT1420 on the Up Main.

Caught a video as I went in this morning, they are very thin and small housings!
