I closed Man Picc from a chain with Warrington PSB, and now MP802 refuses to clear.

I reconnected and ran a few train through but once I disconnect it stops clearing on it's own

As per usual Guts, you have not provided us with what versions of the sims and loader you are using, or a save game. Version numbers for the sims and loader are vital to help us attempt to reproduce the issue as we may not always be working with the same version that you have. Save games help us see what is happening at the time as an issue may not at first be obvious.

That being said, severing of chains is likely to lead to instabilities which is what happens here as MP802 is a controlled signal on Man Pic. So when Man Pic is removed from the chain, Warrington is no longer being provided with the aspect of MP802 and so resorts it to red, since there is no route set from the signal. This is one of the chains that if you don't continue both sims together, the fringe is not able to be restored (as you have found out by reconnecting Man Pic and the fringe working again)

This has not been reported to mantis, as a discussion with the developer confirms that it is not a fixable issue.

As per usual my Sim is completely up to date. I always update my Sims, I do not control what version I have so it will always be the latest version.
IF there had been a recent update, feel free to check with me whether is has been updated or not.
Don't waste your time as per usual in future trying to lecture me.

If you read my other posts, if I'm unsure of the version I would say.

The Saved game was meant to attached to it but I neglected to do it as I had to rush out of home. It's now attached below

So in future ASSUME my sim is up to date unless I say otherwise.

Thank you for confirming my issue cannot be resolved. I suggest the Manual is updated with this issue, and possibly any other Sim where this issue can occur

You will find in the chaining section of the manual there is a generic warning about removing sims from a chain. There is no point putting it in every sim manual as its a warning about chaining in general.

As that is your attitude then I am simply going to say that if you can't provided the requested details in the original post (it takes less 30 seconds to copy the Technical Info from the Help window and paste it in the post) and upload a save, then I am not going to waste my time investigating your issues.

The number of times users have posted reports on this forum claiming they had the latest versions of x, y and z but not specifying what the versions were, nor attaching a save, only to find out when one is eventually produced later on that it was not in fact the latest version are fairly common.

As Nath stated it is easy to put a version number in a forum post and takes seconds. It wastes a lot of time for testers and developers when it is not provided and turns out that the issue being reported was fixed in a later version or, as in this case, never existed in the first place because you were doing something with the software that it is not designed to do and is covered in the manual.

It is unfortunate that there are some users who frequently post spurious “bugs” which turn out to be either user error or not reading the manual properly as this distracts from the work that the developers and testers do to produce new products and fix genuine issues. As one of the testers who picks up and thoroughly looks into a lot of forum reports it is not surprising Nath is frustrated. He probably wasted an hour looking into this non-issue for you.

There are enough requests on this forum from multiple individuals in the testing and development team to include version numbers, as a former tester it should be obvious to you why they are needed. I personally think it wouldn’t be unreasonable to ASSUME that if they are not provided by regular offenders that the user concerned doesn’t really want anyone to look into the matter.

Then don't investigate them.

I am not a child and I won't be spoken to like one. It's not difficult to simply tell someone what you need, if it's a problem reminding people then you're correct you shouldn't do investigations and responses.

You should remember most of us are customers, not all customers are the same or have the same technical details or experience as you or anyone else. If we did, we wouldn't need to come to you, but as we do, you'll have to deal with us appropriately.

Ask yourself how you would feel if a customer service agent got fed up of you calling with a query and TOLD you. No one would be happy. No one, not me, not you, is perfect all the time, and it's not hard to have respect for people when you respond to them regardless of your feelings.

It's that simple.

Thank you Stephen, this is a BRILLIANT and respectful response. That's all I'm asking for.

I actually thought I'd posted the Save when I clicked Post but I hadn't as I was in a rush. It's more infuriating to have people turn their nose up at you because they can. No consumer of SimSig deserves that.

Both your replies quoted above. Fairly sure your first response (why bother asking for that information, its your job to assume etc) is at odds with your subsequent response (just ask if you need something, don't investigate if someone consistently doesn't provide info).

Its not Y10g9s job to scour the forum for previous posts where you state you don't want to provide some basic fault finding info that is almost always asked for.

Its amazing how often an oversight or assumption masks a basic issue. It happened to me at work last week. I never reported which browser I was using when having issues with a browser based system. IT spent 3 days investigating only to then ask, and confirmed I needed to use a different compatible browser. I assumed the browser was irrelevant, they assumed I'd be using the one that works.

I completely agree, it was an oversight on my part; but just ask me, I'd have apologised as I've done in the past for my omission, and posted the required info.

There isn't any excuse to come on here in an insulting fashion; that's all I'm saying.

We seem to have done the issue now and I think everyone's friends again.
I think the key point is that the more information that's given the more likely the matter will be resolved.
Sometimes it's a difficult balancing act as to what's relevant and what's not I know.
