Why have the extra rules file ??

Any re-entry rules for Cumbernauld wouldn't be activated when chained as CSCOT/Cowlairs would just handle the re-entry without any issue.

Thanks for an interesting timetable! I had a bit of a run through on this last night. I think I may have done something wrong with 1S26, the down lowlander. I routed it to the signal at the north end of Carstairs platform 1, which is how I interpreted the timetable, but that meant that the rear of the train, bound for Edinburgh fouled the points (before and after joining the loco) to take the Edinburgh-bound curve. I manually set the train back north along Carstairs platform 1, then reversed again to take the Edinburgh curve. I am very sure this is user error, but what should I have done differently? How is this done in real life?

Hi Meld,

With the problems I had with disappearing trains on the Watford/Wembley TT's previously, AND on a Lewes/TBASC chain, I'm not satisifed that the software works properly with rules for trains that cross a chain boundary. No satisfactory resolution or explanation has ever been forthcoming as to why the trains got marked entered hours in advance.

Alex,

You are quite right, there's no position at CRS that doesn't cause problem as it stands. I'd meant to add a propelling move into Carstairs UPL to enable reverse via P2 to reach Midcalder. I'll correct this on next iteration.

Thanks
Jamie

Hi AlexH.

You'll need to see the route beyond Carstairs. MC413 - MC407.

Jamie, I think you'll need to change the far end stopping position to near end @20 to ensure that the rear is on the platform and within MC416 with the space for the loco to attach.

I've just had a run through CCF and this is still the same way it splits.

Cheers
Craig

Ensure you're running the latest version of Motherwell (Version 5.4) and that it's running in 2015 mode. The line to Garnqueen is only electrified in this era.

Thanks to Craig for confirming the stopping position for 1S26 and the light run-round confirmation.

I've got a couple of extra fixes to add (including ARS misroute on 5M50 and compatibility with the Cathcart Circle TT) and a new version will be uploaded in 2-3 days.

Carlisle is my next station stop

THIS SIM MUST BE RUN IN 2015 ERA. is not needed in the description.

You have been able to make timetables auto select the sim era for a couple of years now.

In the TT editor go to the scenarios tab and in sim era options select the era for the TT. Users are then guaranteed to run the TT/Sim in the correct era

It is selected explicitly in the TT but this note stops people trying to run electric traction over non-enhanced sections ;-)

But by saving the TT with that option selected, the sim automatically selects the era without user intervention

Apologies, I misspoke. The era was explicitly set but somehow had got wiped out.
2015 is the default option in the dropdown though!

Coded and fixed on next release - v0.7 will be available shortly.

However, a TT selected sim option is indistinguishable from the default selected option. For that reason, you usually still need the era in the TT description.

The TT selected sim option will start the sim in the correct era, it doesn't need to be distinguishable. The user gets the sim setup correctly for the timetable, the only choice they have to make is the start time

All the latest TT descriptions I produce include this line 'Scenario / Era - Auto Selected, because the TT selects the era

So either way the TT description specifies something about scenario / era. Then you might as well include what the TT selects for you.
And for a user, there's no way to know whether the TT specifies the sim options. A lot of the older ones don't. So you end up having to check the description again.

I didn't notice until today but the Down Highlander (1S26) is for some reason absent. This will be corrected on the next update.

Thanks

Are you sure 3Q74 0052 entry at Rutherglen East is a UTU? I've just looked through all the current UTU diagrams and our roster for that week and the only UTU with a head code 3Q74 that operates out of Mossend runs to Ayr and back on a Wednesday every 8 weeks departing Mossend at 2152, and it didn't operate that week. The only UTU operating in Scotland that week was UTU1 which operated out of Slateford for three nights, 3Q47 departing Slateford at 2137 WO 26/05 and running Slateford - Carstairs - Newton (RM) - Mossend West - East - Holytown - Shotts - Midcalder - Shotts - Holytown (RM) - Carstairs - Slateford so was in the Motherwell area in the early hours of Thursday 27/05, and not in the timings shown in the sim.

I suspect this may have been a PLPR or track recording train, but certainly not a UTU, and if it had been a UTU recording the max speed 75mph in the Simsig schedule is incorrect as UTU's record at 30mph max, 75 being the max transit speed.

Phil.

Hi Phil,

WTT GF02 shows 3Q74 with timing load UTU-R and ops QY-ThO, so I'll look into that.

TT is based on combined WTT and actual workings.

Thanks
Jamie

Hi Jamie,

If it is shown in the WTT then I guess it is a dormant (as required) path, but as I said earlier, according to our roster the only UTU in Scotland that week was UTU1 in and out of Slateford Sdgs.

Just to be clear, I'm not complaining about its inclusion in the TT, in fact I often add my own UTU's into TT's, with timings taken from those of actual UTU's that ran. I've just added my Carlisle - Glasgow - Paisley - Mossend UTU1 shift from Tuesday night into this TT purely for my own amusement, and it brings with it the requirement (as often happens in real life) to look ahead to see where to hold it on the main line and run a following sleeper (as long as the loop is a passenger loop, which these all are) or freight train around it through one of the loops. It is done this way to avoid losing recording of the main line, which would happen if the UTU was put in a loop for a faster train to pass.

Regards,

Phil.

Hi again Jamie.

I have a question regarding timing at Mossend Yard. UTU1 on Wednesday morning was booked to enter via the North Exit and along the Down Arrival line and then run via 4 Reception (with the former RMT platform adjacent) into the coal sidings. Can I time it all as one train from Rutherglen to the coal roads or do I need to make two entries, Rutherglen to Mossend Arr 1 or 2 then another from DREC4 to the coal roads?

Many thanks,

Phil.

Edit - Just answered my own question, must be timed in two parts.
