Wigan North Western had some changes regarding Platform 2 & 3 a year or so ago, with the result of Platform 2 been removed and sorting Platform 3 to allow 4-Car trains to arrive/depart. With that result WN21 Siganl was removed and recovered. The points were removed and new track installed. Signal WN22 was removed from Platform 3 and replaced further down and placed on the left side on the old track bed of Platform 2.
Platform 3 can now take 4 Car trains at the length is now actually at 95 MTR/ 4 SLU instead of what is mentioned 86 MTR/ 4 SLU. Verified when a 4 Car 156 was placed there which in total is 92 MTR / 4 SLU.
I'm not expecting a change here but thought it was worth a mention.

It would seem I forgot to add photos to the above to show finished work.

That's very interesting and at the same time mildly amusing for us living fossils.

The usable length of platforms 2/3 was set at 84 yards in 2009 (and I think from construction in 1972-ish). A very good choice - for 4-car sets of class 108 DMU used to operate the peak-hour Liverpool (via St Helens Shaw St) services in the 1970s. Still usable by 2 Pacer units

That'll teach 'em to bring in modern 20+ metre coaches! :-)
