Hello! I have been told that there should be an awk script somewhere with which you can convert downloaded CIF WTTs into SimSig timetables to speed up timetabling of modern timetables. Is there a list of the resources and some tips and tricks available somewhere? Log in to reply |

There is no such tool, at least that I know of. Maybe a user wrote something. (We do have an internal system but it's not public, and definitely not awk) SimSig Boss Log in to reply The following users said thank you: Meld, Rocangus |

Okay, thank you for clarifying. It would be nice to have some more timetables but I also understand that if the tool were public there could be a practical explosion in the number of timetable submissions that need to be checked which would slow down many other nice things.

Not really as we only hold a limited number of datasets, most of which already get turned into sim timetables anyway. The database is big enough with just that. The next issue is if the public get read access and want something changed then one of us has to do it, and that change may never see the light of day through abandoned plans. If they get write access then the potential for introducing error, whether by accident or maliciously, is far too high. So we limit it to only a handful of qualified testers/devs. SimSig Boss Log in to reply The following users said thank you: Meld, y10g9 |

Definitely important to keep the standards up. I've only released a handful of timetables but have spent a lot of time testing and checking them before making them public (even pre release). It's great to have more people creating and releasing timetables as it gives more scenarios to work through, but is disappointing when they aren't up to scratch. Rocangus - it might be worthwhile you spending time resolving the issues on your released Peterborough 2020 timetable before embarking on new challenges. https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/52401 User | Multiplayer Host | Timetable Writer Last edited: 13/08/2021 at 06:37 by andyallen4014 Reason: Added link Log in to reply The following users said thank you: Meld, y10g9 |
