Here is an annoying problem that I encounter from time to time and would like a solution. At Queens Street Station two trains join at platform 4 to form 2N11 and the train hangs over the end of the platform. So you apply the reverse direction command in an attempt to get it to fit. This works and you reverse again to get the train up to the signal at end of platform. However, you are now left with the train driver phoning in every 15 minutes to say his train is held at the signal.

So how can you edit the location to what is required : "2N11 at Queens Street Plat 4" and not "2N11 held at signal CQ68," ?

You would need to attach a saved game so we can see exactly what happened. But I guess the timetable has stepped up past the station, so you would need to tell the train that it's still in Queen Street instead of having departed. You can do this from the train list by right-clicking the train -> edit timetable, then go to the Location List tab, select Queen Street and click "Set current/next location".

THanks Albert for your reply. You would think that your solution would work but it doesnt. The train location remains as stopped at signal CQ68 !

I have just applied yet another reverse and this did the trick. Although I suspect the train will now go in the wrong directon at the scheduled departing time. So perhaps thats the general solution. Not a very elegant one and I expect there is a better way of doing it.

The train should regain its correct direction once it becomes stopped at the station and has completed all activities such as joins, divides or crew changes. You can check whether it is facing "up" or "down" in the train list; to get out of Queen Street station it should be facing up.

Note that reversing a train before it divides may cause it to divide at the wrong end, getting a train trapped at the buffer stops.
