I remember back in the (earlier) 1980s Shrewsbury locals used to run out of what's shown as P6 on the sim, but was previously numbered 1C, IIRC.
Of course, Shrewsbury traffic has for many years mostly run through to Birmingham or beyond, but it'd be nice to use P6 on an older TT.

The current layout does not allow Up arrivals into P6 (nor 1). IIRC trains used to be able to arrive on P6 in the past - does anyone know when the necessary facing lead & routes would have been removed? or am I remembering a hazy thing from the past & it wasn't how the statoin was worked...

In my summer 1990 Wolverhampton TT P6 is used a few times by units terminating in P2 or P3 & then shunting across back into P6 to form a service back to Shrewsbury.

This video from 1984 does not show a facing crossover to access P6 (or P1C). It's a bit too grainy to read the platform numbers.

The attached plan, purportedly from the 1960s (at some point during the PSB's commissioning I guess) also doesn't show a facing crossover. There is also no platform number shown.

Doing an image search for DMU / Wolverhampton throws up several arrivals in P2 and 1C departures, so I go with the shunt option as noted by 58050.

Would also make sense for cross platform connections, arrive 2, London train in 3
Shunt to 1C
London train arrives 1.

Making folk walk 1C to 3 would simply be evil !

Thanks guys.
So it loks like arrive on P2 (up to WN66)& shunt to P1C - well, there was a lot more shunting at most stations in the past, and the aversion to avoidable facing leads lasted a long time (with some strange exceptions of course).
The lack of platform number would explain why it got numbered 1C (and then 6), being a bay later brought into passenger use. Same goes for the south parcels bay which later became 1D (then 5).

And of course, the centre road is why WN66 is there, to allow the north end of p2 to be used while the middle road was worked at the south end. I had also forgotten the middle road too! Obviously remember less than I thought...
