" In earlier eras the Down diveunder line was used for bringing empty stock out of the low-numbered platforms and into the carriage sheds, so is not signalled for passenger use. In later eras the signalling was upgraded and the line became the Down Departure." Could somebody please clarify whether passenger trains can use the 'Down Empty Carriage Line' exiting Euston. I'm using the 1960's layout.

The 1960s layout represents the original layout. the Empty carriage line isn't signalled for passenger use in that era. That said, I think it had been changed by 1977. the timetable should show which line the train is booked to depart on?

A perusal of the 1977 edition of PSUL:

shows several passenger departures via the diveunder, so unusual but certainly permitted.

It is shown back to, and including, 1975-6. It is not listed in the May 1974-5.
However the note in 1974-5 'amendments' makes clear it was already in use but not thought 'worthy' of inclusion.

The 1975 LMR (South) Sectional Appendix calls the line the Down Departure Line and identifies it as a passenger route with a 20mph limit.

I'm running the 1977 timetable with the 1980s scenario to avoid the various departures scheduled for the route calling up to object to being routed over a goods line. Very enjoyable it is too!
