My default browser is Firefox. When I go to some parts of the SimSig web presence (Wiki for example) things lag horribly "waiting for use.fontawesome.com". I have tried going into Troubleshooting mode (used to be called Safe Mode) so no extensions enabled and some background functions disabled but the problem is still the same.

This does not happen with the other browsers I might use (Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi) where the pages load immediately. Is anyone else using Firefox and seeing the lagginess? If it is not just me, does anyone know of a workround?

I don't use Firefox these days as it was very sluggish a while back. But it seems OK when I tested just now.

I use Firefox all the time and that doesn't happen to me.

If you right-click a blank area of the page, click View Page Source, and then click on the blue underlined use.fontawesome link on or near line 11, do you get some text that starts "window.FontAwesomeCdnConfig = {"? If you do then I've no ideas. If you don't then perhaps it has been blocked by something?

The diagnostic tools accessed by pressing F12, and attempting to reload the page, may provide some insight.

All the same as you are seeing so we are both bereft of ideas.

I am somewhat less than clueless about the F12 tools. In the console I can see the line:

02:01:16.661 Loading failed for the <script> with source “https://use.fontawesome.com/18b2cf4af1.js”. Show:11:1

which is generated after the lag while the page freezes. However, I have no idea where to go to try and find out why the loading failed.

My brain must be fading as I get older - I'd forgotten I'd posted that! Thanks for the reminder. Why it should affect my system but others users are not seeing the problem is beyond me. It looks like that sorted itself out in the end so maybe we'll just have to wait and see.
