Hi all, i been playing on the new Woking Sim which i bought yesterday, having been running for about 6 1/2 hours (sim time), a dialog box appeared stating the the liscence had been removed from the machine, and the simulation propmtly exited, on restarting the sim, it shows the Woking ASC is using a dynamic license and can be restarted fine... any idea what i'm doing wrong?

This happens when SimSig is unable to communicate multiple times in a row with the server for an extended period of time.

If it becomes a persistent problem (or you know you'll be using the sim away from the internet), you can lock the license to your machine by right clicking it in the sim list and selecting 'lock license'.

I'm having the same problem after having SimSig open while the laptop is in "sleep" mode. When reopening the laptop, SimSig immediately says that the license has been removed from the machine and quits. I seem to remember that this problem was prevalent when the dynamic licenses were introduced, but that a fix was introduced that made this happen much less commonly. Also, if the licence check did fail upon reopening, the game would automatically be saved to a file called WokeUp.ssg. This worked fine for me for a long time. However, this problem is now once again happening every time upon resuming from sleep mode, and the simulation is no longer automatically saved.

We'll make some investigations into the issue, as a couple of people have reported a similar issue.

After I started locking the license for the simulation I'm running to my machine, I no longer experience the loss of license upon waking the laptop from sleep mode. However, there is a new problem: upon loading a save, SimSig sometimes gives an error message approximately two minutes later saying "Simulation has expired." and the program quits. Waiting a little and trying again often solves the problem. Since the error message is quite short, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the license, but am guessing so.

I am still having the above problem, been waiting for years for a fix. I am not paying £42 for Crewe to be told my licence/simulation has expired every day, whether I lock the licence or not. The problem seems a lot worse when I am using an emulator on a Mac, but still happens on Pcs and Windows laptops. I stick mostly to the free sims. The simple fix required would be an option to rescan for licence before being forcibly quitted.

This is what the software is trying to do, and for whatever reason is unable to succeed, hence the message you get. Usually the problem is your antivirus or firewall, or Windows itself, not allowing the licensing software to contact the server. It's hard to say which one of these might be blocking without further information - there are a couple of articles in the FAQ but for starters, knowing what anti-virus you use might evoke a reply from someone who has experienced and fixed the issue with that particular software.

We've found something which may have caused the wrong message to be displayed and not save "LostLicense.ssg", though fundamentally this doesn't change the fact that it was unable to contact the server. It may also have caused it to not retry after a few minutes. Mantis 38492.

It has happened on LTS and Moss Vale. I haven't tried any others for some time.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have tried whitlelisting Simsig with Windows firewall, and my virus checkers but it made no difference, the bug occuring sgain today. The most common occurence is when my PC wakes up from sleep the message "Simulation will now end" is waiting. My suggestion is this could be changed to a message "Rescan for licence", then after I check I am connected I could click "OK" and the software could perhaps check for the licence and if found carry on with the sim uninterrupted.
