Apologies if this has been discussed already but is there a way to assign a head code to a train after dividing. I am usually left with one train with a head code that can be transposed and one that is just a red line. I cannot assign a head code until it moves off and displays xxxx. I want to be able to assign while its still in the platform

If there is only one TD berth, only one TD can be entered. Once the first portion moves off, you can simply enter the second TD.

I wouldn't recommend transposing two headcodes but you can interpose them. The specifics depend, though. If you've got a signal at each end of a through platform you can interpose at each signal by right-clicking (shift + right-click if right-click cancels route) on the signal and selecting 'interpose train description' and then you can type it in. You can also use the shortcut i (or select TD interpose from the buttons next to the clock), type in the description and then simply click on the signal. If you've got a terminal platform and you want to interpose at the buffer stops end it's as above but you have to use the exit arrow. If there is already an old description you can also simply right-click on that and edit it. Sometimes at terminal platforms, e.g. Marylebone, there'll be several platform berths at the end. These can be a bit of a pain as you can only interpose in them by right-clicking on them and selecting interpose. if you try using the shortcut i you can't click on them to insert the TD. The way the descriptions step through those berths can sometimes catch you out as well especially if there are already some train descriptions.

Sometimes however there aren't enough berths, but as Dick says you should interpose in the normal way before the train sets off.
