On the latest release I'm getting calls about every 10 minutes from Carriage Shed Crossing. Could this be looked into as it is extremally annoying!

This is how it is real life its a very busy crossing with it been the access point. For the sim developer maybe an option could be used to disable the crossing using the tick box to enable level crossings at the start of loading up the sim?

It's a bit of an odd one, as its actually worked by a crossing keeper who also puts down stop boards on the rails so it isn't a quick process. I suspect (albeit with only infrequent trips between Crewe and Stoke) the crossing keeper either knows the WTT, or maybe even has a screen in his cabin with a CCF display, and is thus aware of the best times to phone the box to open the crossing. I also reckon the keeper either gets told a time to hand the crossing back, or is granted it until the box call for it, as it tends to be open for long periods of time even if no vehicles are using it. There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway. Log in to reply |

Do any other sims have 'normally closed to rail' crossings ? Historically fairly common on branch lines with crossing keepers and (local, partial) signal protection. From a sim viewpoint you would need a delay to be clear, say 5 mins from setting a route, with maybe features such as calls for a longer rail closure and a small %age that sometimes the clearing time is not met - equivalnt to 'vehicle on crossing'. The answer to resolve this is that the crossing will not call you when level crossings are disabled on start up. (This has jsut flagged a bug up that it still is calling atm, Mantis 39132 to resolve). There have been many threads on this particular crossing now and unfortunately we all find ourselves in a 50/50 state of what end users desire. The most practicle option is to do as stated above and disbled crossings on start up and we'll have the bug sorted for next release. To answer the question about crossings on other SIMs, Appleford crossing on the Swindon A&B SIM is normally closed to road users

I was lucky enough to spend a few hours in Bognor Regis box a couple of weeks ago and there is a crossing under his control that had constant phone calls, in so much as we didn't have time to go have a smoke without another call. yes rather annoying but it is true to life. OK Bognor isn't on this yet but it does happen rather more frequently than you may expect.

Appleford stays closed unless the road user calls to open it. The crossing mentioned here is the opposite, Log in to reply |
