Failures and delay on high - only limited delays and failures 19/08/2023 at 20:31 #152910 | |

Dear all, Having another play through on the excellent Crewe simulation (v1, loader v5.26) using the 2019 timetable (Crewe Winter 2019 SX) in case that matters. I have set the failures probabiliy and the delays probability and duration to more or less maximum and, over a period of quite a number of sim hours, I have not had a single failure and while trains coming in have been delayed to a degree, very few trains are delayed 'in sim' (e.g. calling at stations) - mostly 10 minute delays here or there. I'm sure I've done something wrong, but I can't see what. I've attached a couple of saves at different points in time. Thanks! Alex Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

AlexH in post 152910 said:Dear all,Your issue is that you have max simultaneous failures set to 0. If you increase this then failures should start occuring. EDIT: As expected after increasing simultaneous failures a TCF appears as well as a Delayed train at Alsager. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. What was your "scale of problems" set to when you started the sim?

Although that's just a coincidence – the "Max simultaneous failures" settings only affects the number of infrastructure failures and has no bearing on the amount of delayed and failed trains. Another thing to keep in mind is that in Simsig trains can currently only fail at a scheduled station stop, so in sims with a high amount of trains that pass through non-stop or stop at most once, you'll also only get a correspondingly limited amount of train failures. Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick. Log in to reply |

Ah, I thought it would be something simple. I had misinterpreted the box as 0 (additional) simultaneous to any given failure. Indeed, this then precipitated failures. Thanks

Probably set to normal, I would think, but I can't check now. It was my own mistake (as I suspected) and now they appear.
