I have been looking at the subsidiary aspect on E537, platform 2 at Exeter St Davids.
When routed to E645 the SA will clear when TKC has been occupied for 30s
When routed to E641 the SA will clear when TKC has been occupied for 30s
When routed to Riverside West the SA will clear when TKC has been occupied for 30s and Slot is obtained.

Signal E669 is the shunt signal on Hyde Park Siding.
This signal will only clear when E537's MA is Off.

As such, despite being able to set a route, it is impossible to set a route from Hyde Park Siding to Exeter New Yard or Riverside Yard. it is only possible to get E669 to clear when E537 is routed to E41 on the Up Main.

I believe the behaviour with E669 was previously logged in Mantis 19630 prior to Feb 2021, but as this still happens in all eras I suspect the bug still exists. If this is not a bug and true to life, please can this be mentioned in the sim manual.

Ways to fix this I would suspect to be when the route from E669 to E537 is proved, bypass the track occupation (approach release?) requirement on E537's SA

Additionally when a route is set E669 > E537 > E41. Both E669 and E537 can be put back without any approach locking. I wanted to report this as well in case this is also a bug

It was reported in 2018 and someone said they'd check the control tables and get back to me.

Could it be added to the manual that such routes are not possible or make it possible for such manouvers until this person gets back to you to confirm this one way or the other. It does however seem very unlikely to have what I assume to be approach release on a bay platform!

Additionally, thankyou for creating the Sim and the hard work that you put into creating maintaining this and other sims.

I did not create Exeter, I just maintain it. I think Geoff or Mike created it.
Currently, 669 requires 537 OFF, so it's 537 that's the problem at the moment.
What I'll do is take off the condition and correct it as required later.

Oh, and you are right 669 did not have approach locking - now added.

Well the answer was pinged to me a few moments ago.
Essentially points 857 need to be locked Normal or Reverse before E537 will clear.

Given the normal PL clearing rules require a train to be present behind the signal that generally means the points are locked by default, as they are in the case of setting a route from E669.

However, the main route (to E71) should clear whether there's a train behind it or not. If there is no train then the points need to be locked (either way) manually - though it's unlikely you'd set the route if there was no train.

I'll try and remember to update the manual for this when the next release is made.
