On the Derby Summer 1987 Simulation, The Notes for 9P01 mentions requiring a shunt forward to initiate join. I am not sure how to manually shunt forward a train in general, can I have more information about how to manually shunt a train? Would be great help!

Open F2, right click the train, and under 'train options' select 'shunt forward'. The train will then move forwards until it reaches another train or a red signal. You can also reverse the train's direction in the same menu if it's pointing the wrong way for the move you want to make.
