I know there are some notes / advisories about this I cannot find them

So I have the HST in GLQ and is presented with a red signal for departure
In order for it depart I have to authorise it pass Danger
However it cannot pass the next signal without the same request

Have I missed something?
In reality the signal was set to clear with the reverse view showing, without affecting the next signal

It's called "standing out" which is proving difficult to get working.
It's also not 100% clear if it applied to all platforms and if it's still in place, someone was looking into that question for me.

There should be a pdf file in the 'timetables' folder if you used the automated download, otherwise download the zip again and extract it manually.

The relevant words are:

The HST departures from Queen St need authorisation, as noted above. Once the long train has cleared the
platform (phones up, gets authorised etc) set CQ60 to CQ58, as this triggers CQ58 to clear. The route can
be cancelled immediately of course as CQ60 is still red.

This gets around the automated function of CQ58 which only clears when a route is set to it, so you need the one PSAD.
