If two trains have different Train descriptions, e.g. 1A12 & 1A14 but have the same Unique Identity (UID), does this cause conflict on trains entering the sim at entry points?

Yes, the sim won't let a second train with the same UID enter until the first exits or forms a new working.

I guessed as much. Have now got over 1200 trains to give individual UIDs. Because I used 'duplicate' to create blocks of trains over a period, whilst everything updates on the schedule, the UID doesn't.

Hi Giantray,

Yes it's the reverse of what you have done, the headcode / description can be the same but as Steamer has said the UIDs must be different for the trains to enter properly. Adding a, b, c etc to the end of the UID would be enough of a differentiation if you didn't want to go through and change them all completely, but depending on how you have used next workings and joins and divides, you would need to check the train actions too that they match with the new UID. Same with any rules you may have added.

As someone who doesn't have access to the real UIDs for mine it is the headcode then TOC and then a number depending on how many variations of the headcode there are for that TOC during the day eg 1A12SN1 1A14SN1 1A12SN2 etc etc

Note also that UIDs are not mandatory, but if you don't use them you will need to differentiate identical TDs so you reference them in rules and activities.

Nor is it all with or all without UID.

I tend to keep unique TD for 90% plus of the main traffic, but use UID for trips and shunts as it helps keep track of them.

So 1A01 etc, but maybe a 1A02/$1A02A 1A02/$1A02B if there are variations.
However for say trip 17 that uses UID $T1701, $T1702, , , , with the TRN 0T17/9T17 as appropriate for each leg.
Then the appearance rules are all in the form $T1704 appears after $T1703 etc.

May be worth looking into doing that with an automated hack on the xml file by bringing it into your spreadsheet programme of choice.
