Strawberry Hill Depot entry 25/10/2024 at 16:13 #158960

Whenever I get a train with a destination of the Strawberry Hill depot, I get a F93 slot and route the train into the depot from that F93 signal into the depot.

There appears to be an entrance into the depot from the opposite/western end. I've tried routing trains into the depot from the western end both with and without F93 slots, and the response is that there is no route available. The Shacklegate junction slot doesn't seem to facilitate entry, either.

Is that western entrance actually useable (and how) or is it just for 'decoration?'

Thanks.

Note that the Shacklegate Jn entrance is only connected to the Up Kingston, i.e. it's only reachable by reversing at F413.

If you tried routing a train in from F89, that won't work.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Thanks, Jan

Previously with trains on the Kingston Up line, I would send them into platform 2 at Strawberry Hill and go into the depot from F93. It's nice to have another option.

Much appreciated 👍

Although note that with the track layout inside the depot, most sidings are only accessible from the Strawberry Hill end anyway. So in real life a train diverted through the Shacklegate Jn end most likely still would have to shunt back out via Strawberry Hill platform 2 anyway.
