I've just registered specifically to ask this question.

When a driver phones in from a signal at danger, the standard replies on offer are to ask the driver to wait 2/5/15 mins; examine the line; pass the signal at danger; pass the signal and examine the line. In the real world, once the line has been examined subsequent trains would then be asked to proceed at caution if necessary. At the moment I have to ask every driver to examine - for example - a failed track circuit. Is there any possibility of adding options to "Proceed at caution and obey all other signals" and "Pass the signal at danger, proceed at caution and obey all other signals"?

If you authorise he will proceed at caution to the next signal

Understood, but the driver will be examining the line and will stop at the next signal to report back his findings. Whilst there are many occasions when a line exam is the correct action to take, once the line has been examined then the driver need only be told to "Proceed at caution, being prepared to stop short of any obstruction" (either when the signal is cleared or after passing the signal at danger). There is no need for the driver to contact the signaller again once this instruction is given. It just seems to be a strange omission for Simsig.

Sorry Ron, I wasn't very clear on what I wrote there, my fault.

The first train past you correctly ask to examine.
The second and further trains you can just tell to pass the signal at danger, they will continue at reduced speed till the next signal.

Basically it does what you're suggesting it should do, it's just the descriptions in the phone box don't use the phrase you have.

Hope that helps.

Hi Ron,

The first train you send over a 'Track circut failure' Will, "Examine line and Pass signal at danger". Once this train has called in the line is clear. All Subsequent trains will just be given the "Authorise drive to pass signal at danger".

If you authorise a SPAD, then the train will continue with caution to the next signal, be it an Aspect signal or shunt disc. At this point you can either continue signalling the train normally or authorise a SPAD again untill the train reaches a signal it can be signalled on as normal.

Alan.

P.S. SPAD = Signal Passed At Danger.
