2P51 (heading down) and 2P08 (heading up) are about to collide head-on, thanks to ARS setting M25->EP603 after 2P08 was already across Niddrie North Jn. The manual mentions the possibility of Mexican Standoffs when using ARS, but this looks like a stright-up interlocking failure. I tried to upload the save, but got: Error Upload error I'll try it again in IE in a minute. Edit: Nope, IE gets the same error. Log in to reply |

There is a signal protecting 2P08. You will end up in a sticky situation getting them moving again, but there is no collision imminent.

Yes, 2P51 will stop at EP603, but 2P08 has a Caution at EP604. Looking on Google Earth, I can't make out the signals, but it looks like 2P51 could be hidden around the corner from 2P08's perspective. In any case, the interlocking shouldn't allow a situation where routes are set in both directions across the same piece of track. Log in to reply |

Ah yes, I see it now. It could be your fault - i.e. the line is worked under AB regulations. Log in to reply |

Actually, EP604 just dropped to Danger, so 2P08 and 2P51 are both stopped. Based on the display, it looks to be TCB (I'd expect "hollow track" if it was AB, like the appropriate parts of CScot.), but I found this in the manual, which may explain it:
Millerhill is a separate signal box controlling Millerhill yard and the Newcraighall area. A representation of that area is included in the sim, it is not totally accurate beyond Newcraighall.
The Manea area in Cambridge is similar, with only basic route setting, rather than a full interlocking. You can have track circuited AB areas ;) Glad you have sorted it out. Log in to reply |

Does look like something I need to look at though. Although ARS may have set up the situation I'd guess you could have done it manually too- eitherway it looks wrong. Thanks Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

I just tried it myself with no trains around, and the route was locked out. Initial state: No routes set, all signals at Danger. What I did, and I think what ARS did: Set EP610->EP604 EP610 stayed at Danger (probably approach released?) EP604 stepped up to Caution, the Up direction arrow lit. Try to set M25->EP603 "Subroute locked in opposite direction." Setting the routes in the opposite order gives "Subroute locked in opposite direction" too. So, it looks like ARS is somehow able to bypass the interlocking there. Peter, I just tried to PM you my save, but I get the same upload error as when I tried to attach it to my original post. Would you like me to email it? Log in to reply |

OK looking at it- the overlap lit should have prevented the opposing route being set (either way). Can't reproduce but I'll add a further test of whether the opposing arrow is lit. Thanks Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
