Hiya!

Another bug report I’m afraid! This time I received a call from 2I02 saying it is being delayed at Fellgate. When I checked the position of the train on the display, it had yet to pass signal 6268, and thus was sitting outside the station (see attachment). Looking at the release notes in the wiki, it says that an issue regarding a Fellgate stopping position was fixed in version 1.1. However, I am running version 1.2 (with loader v4.6.4). I have attached a save for your reference.

I think that is correct as from looking at it on the sim (I have it set up to show Track circuit breaks) the station is head of the signal and the track circuit overlap for signal 6268 is at the end of the platform for Fellgate.

Thanks. But shouldn’t the signal have turned red in that case? Either that or the platform has been rendered the wrong side of the signal on the display. Unless I am misunderstanding, of course!

No. Have a closer look at the image posted by Mark- the track circuit extends into the station. However, there's only one track circuit that covers both the 'section' before 6268 and 6268's overlap- the signal hasn't gone to red because there's no way to tell if the train is before the signal or ahead of the signal and within the overlap.

Looks fine to me. The red bit indicates roughly where the train is (accurate to that track circuit), and the berth is alongside the signal where it usually is.

There isn't a separate overlap to replace the signal to danger (nor is there really a need for one as it's still protected by the signal in rear).

Ahh, I think the penny has dropped, thanks for breaking it down for me.

Just so I know I’m getting it: the train actually encounters the signal first before the platform, but, due to the overlap, which extends into the station, the train passes the signal but remains within the same track circuit. Therefore, the signalling system has no idea (and, normally, neither do I as the signaller) that the train has passed the signal. The only reason I know is because the driver called up and mentioned it…and I have extra tools (such as the F2 Train List). Have I got that right?

That's right.

I've got a vague memory that there's somewhere on the New Lines (WembleySub simulation) where a train in the overlap isn't visible from the signal, so you can see a green signal with apparently clear line ahead but actually there's a train just round the corner. [It might have been before the resignalling, so it might not show in the sim.]
