Playing through the supplied timetable, I noticed (to my demise) that Trains bound for the CEGB siding at Broxbourne don't ring up and report if the route is instead set straight on at signal 1092!

"CEGB" (Central Electricity Generating Board) hasn't existed for over 15 years and hasn't really existed for nearer 25 years. I guess the paperwork to get the name changed is too onerous. I appreciate that doesn't help fix the problem! Log in to reply |

Forget the paperwork, the people on the ground will carry on using the old name for the next 30 years. Witness the Down Slow at Marylebone (on the west side of the layout extending from Rossmore Road bridge to just short of the tunnels, no longer exists but imagine an extension of the connection from No. 6 platform trailing in just north of 11 signal). It ceased to be the Down Slow in 1967 when the old Passenger and Goods boxes were abolished and the 60 lever LMR box I knew was commissioned. But no-one ever called it the Down Siding (the name that appeared on the signalbox diagram) in my time (1980/1) and I don't suppose the usage had changed when it was lifted entirely and the IECC commissioned 12 or 15 years later.
