Starting to create a timetable for the May 20th timetable change. Lots of ECS Services (Like this) go to Brighton Down Sidings. I tried to route trains via the goods line, into the neck, reverse into the Down Sidings. However, the driver phones and says unsuitable traction. Tried allowing the train on goods line but no luck. Whats the best solution for routing the Class 700s into the sidings? Thanks Thomas Log in to reply The following user said thank you: Agent_Squash |

I think those sidings are newer than the sim. I don't believe they were electrified before, hence the traction issue.

Your doing exactly the same as me! It would be great if they could be configured to work with third rail - currently, no matter what traction type is set, the sidings will not work.

Sorry but there are currently no plans to update the sim with the newer track layout.

Have you set traction on the incoming service to diesel as well as the ECS move? Trains cant magically change traction once in sim, even if they change timetables. (they csn start emergency diesel engine but im not counting that) Otherwise, if youre saying trains wont enter the sidings regardless then theres a serious sim issue "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Last edited: 24/04/2018 at 09:55 by jc92 Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Unfortunately it doesn't work after setting the train to run with diesel traction. Guess Lovers Walk will be doubly busy

A train that enters the sim as an electic only Cannot be made into diesel even if the TT says the stock traction is diesel. As mentioned above A train cannot change traction once it enters a sim even if the TT says diesel, so if a train enters and the TT says stock with 3DC, the next working TT says stock is Diesel, The next working will still be 3DC as that is the traction of the incoming train. There are some lovely rules for using the sidings depending on if the PIC person in charge is on duty or not. For trains going into the siding, if there is a person in charge you will be required to speak to them first before letting a train in. If no one is on duty then signal normally. For trains leaving the sidings, if the person in charge is on duty they will call and what trains are ready to depart. If no one is on duty then the drivers will either use the TRTS, SG on the GSMR or voice comms on the GSMR. Last edited: 25/04/2018 at 21:11 by Hooverman Reason: None given Log in to reply |

A train that enters the sim as an electic only Cannot be made into diesel even if the TT says the stock traction is diesel. If the train (or one of its predecessors in a linked set of workings) is already in sim when you edited the train type, then the train in sim is not affected and retains the traction type it had on entry. The traction type is retained for trains in sim whether you edit the train type through the TT editor, the individual train through the TT editor or the individual train through the "edit timetable" option from the F2 screen. Could you just clarify that point, please. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 05/05/2018 at 09:15 by postal Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Tried again with no luck (Checked with the F2 -> edit train menu, Train Characteristics - > Power Types -> Diesel was selected) so I'm going to use Preston Park Sidings as the alternative for the time being. Thanks all for the suggestions. Thomas Log in to reply |

Mis-read the previous post so answered the wrong question.
