Just opened Marylebone It's 4 o'clock in the morning start and already got passenger woes message. Is this a case of the first service usually being that packed that someone has decided not to go home from the previous days grind and stay on board. Hate to think why or what type of passenger would want assistance at this time. Any ideas? Message relayed from the yard as follows: - 04:00:11 5C06 delayed at Aylesbury Sidings due to assistance being given to a passenger, expected to depart at about 07:00. Geoff Log in to reply |

I think this has to be filed under the "flock of geese at westbury barrow crossing" list. The messages are all randomly allocated. I've had the wrong kind of food trolley on ECS before.

There's a story from Marylebone (somewhat apocryphal) that a punter was being a right pain one night... well under the influence. The station staff decided to get rid of him and poured him on to a Wycombe, assuming he would wake up and get off at some point, perhaps nearer home but certainly no longer their problem. When the back working arrived, our friend was till on board. So they charged him an excess fare to High Wycombe and back! (And he paid up, apparently.) The disturbed pax weren't necessarily *on* the light engines. They might have been expecting there to be an actual train behind the loco, or simply bemused as to why this rather short, noisy train had no windows, no push-button doors, and a rather high step...

The first was a guy boarded a Cambridge bound service at Kings Cross and fell asleep, he woke up at Kings Cross upon it's return and asked when was the train leaving for Cambridge, I don't know what his expression was when it was explained to him that he HAD actually been to Cambridge and back! The second was a more sadder one, there had been complaints of a smell from one of the toilets so upon investigation it transpired that it came from a deceased passenger who sadly passed away while in there, what was even more sadder was the poor bugger had been in there for a few days! As to the Marylebone story above, I've known that to happen a few times on the GN! Log in to reply |
