Could anyone who has a little more knowledge of timetable making telling what 'seeding gap' means? By default there is a '15' shown and on a timetable I'm creating I have 6 overnight trains that are seeded in platforms before morning services. One instance 'example' I have 5L52 in Platform 7 awaiting 2L01 from Dumfries where it joins to form 1L52 when the said 2L01 train arrives into Platform 7 the train is still sticking out of the platform occupying point set and track.

Seeding gap is the distance of the train from the (seed) signal. Generally in SimSig the train will stop some 15-20m short of the signal unless a station stop. If seeding at buffer stops, best to change the seed gap to say 2m, to reflect real life, similarly with a full length train in a station you may need to seed the train closer to the signal to accommodate the train inside the platform. One technique is to seed just one train that then divides into the appropriate portions.

Thank you both, I'll try that suggest of 2m as 2A02, 2H81, 2C38, 2L02 and 5L52 should all be next to the buffers as per real life. 2L01 is a Dumfries to Carlisle service that enters at 0458 for Carlisle and couples to 5L52 to form 1L52 to Glasgow via Dumfries.

I'm still having an issue with this, Provided a screenshot that I've blanked out areas etc. 5L52 is seeded at 2m awaiting 2L01, again it arrives and still sticks out occupying the track behind it. To add when I abandon timetable after join and manually reverse it, it goes up to 15mph for around 30secs before stopping and saying at buffers... seems to well away from the buffers.

Actually might of sorted it.. there are the same signals on the seed list example CE305X I presume the 'X' is the buffer end of the platform instead of just 'CE305' etc.

I think this maybe a case of platform seeding not being done where the seeding point is by convention at the buffer stop Log in to reply |

Yes seeding location of 5L52 is seeded at Signal CE327 with seed gap of 2m, But in the seeding locations I've found CE327X which I've just used on a trial run in the same circumstances and it seems CE327X is the buffer end of the platform and CE327 is the signal end of the platform. 2L01 joined 5L52 and formed 1L52.

Yes you are quite correct. Tip from one been there, done that - see which direction the seeded train faces! I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: HST125Scorton |

There is a way round it because I managed to get it to work in a TT I was working in a while ago, but I can't remember how I did it or which TT.If you don't have a buffer end seeding point, only the departure signal, you need to find the length of the platform and length of the train then use a seeding gap of the length of the platform minus the length of the train minus another couple of metres to give the gap at the buffers.I don't think that works, as I have tried to convert some TT's written before seeding was available e.g Brighton and as soon as the sim starts the train starts moving and continues until at arrives at the signal at the end of the platform. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |
