Many thanks to Karl for organising the venue, and Alan and Yorkshire Lad for hosting the 2 sims Warrington and Preston.

Also thanks to all the victims attendees for coming to the meet and their efforts in finding some gremlins (a couple of good spots too) and only breaking the sims once!

Special thanks to Ben/Sacro for the lift home, turned out he lives in Sale about 400yds from my sister's (my staging post!)

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

As expected it was brilliant both Preston & Warrington Sims were in use although I didn't get chance to look at the fantastic Warrington Sim as I was interested more on the Preston Sim which is fabulously laid out, I got the pleasure of running Panels A & B East Lancs/Blackburn area using AndyGs Laptop but who also gave a lot detail into the work involved. Both Sims are on my little priority list and will be welcomed by everyone. I was hinted about the release time but I will not disclose details to keep it all fair but there both in advanced development.

It was grand meet everyone and put usernames to faces and thanks Karl for organizing the venue at RSR.

Sounds good. Not seen any screenshots of either sim but I will look forward to their release.

IIRC there was something about the possibility of a third, unreleased sim making an apearence but I guess it didn't?

So... any news from Preston?
yes.

drunk. ;-)

Serious note, Great day! good to meet faces rather than digital names, and great to see how new things are tested as such.

Thanks to all for organising!

Final home time for me 00:40!

I've got one question about the Preston sim as I couldn't make the meetup but how far towards Leeds does it go along the East Lancs?

The other question I have is as I'm not 100% familiar with the signal boxes but which Manchester sim/s will Warrington be able to be chained to if any?

Assuming it includes Eccles box (the only intermediate box) it would chain to Windsor bridge panel on piccadilly.

The fringe (to Hebden Bridge) is between Hall Royd Jn and Hebden Bridge

Warrington also looks to be capable of chaining to Crows Nest Junction Panel as well.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Eccles isn't the only intermediate box - there is also one at Astley.

One photo I have due to my phone been so stupid that i never saved all 33 images of I took of Preston/Warrington. So this image was projected from the main server onto the white wall, sadly focus was all out and well you can work out its Preston in 2010+ Era mode.

So I should be able to signal trains from Preston all the way to Colne then?

You sure can, I did exactly that yesterday across Panel A/B.

My first meet and it turned out to be a very interesting 5 hours which went very quickly as time does when you are enjoying yourself. Many thanks to the organisers of the event and special thanks for all the effort put in to produce the Preston and Warrington sims. Both looked very interesting and I now must be patient awaiting their publication hopefully not too far into the future.

A thoroughly enjoyable meet. Good fun with Warrington and Preston, 2 of the areas I travelled though to get to the meet.

Right now Warrington sim stops at the fringe of the real Warrington PSB there, which would indeed leave a little gap between it and Piccadilly. Not sure what the plans for that are - I only noticed this after the meet and so couldn't ask Andy himself any more.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Preston PSB orignally controlled the East Lancs line through to Hebden Bridge (exclusive), plus the L&Y main line across the county boundary from there to an interface with Smithy Bridge box. Nominally the control area was Weasel Hall Tunnel to Littleborough station.

As built, Preston didn't control the Colne branch throughout. Burnley Central, Brierfield station (level crossing) and Chaffers Siding level crossing all still had block posts, with Chaffers Siding controlling access to/from the single line to Colne using a very substantial wooden staff.

For Warrington PSB you've forgotten Astley and Barton Moss Junction (arson victim at some point between 1977 and the mid-1980s) before Eccles on the Chat Moss route. On the Lymm route there were umpteen signalboxes, mostly controlling level crossings, before reaching (Stockport) Edgeley Jn No.1. At Wigan, the power box interfaced with Crow Nest Junction which in turn interfaced to Bolton (from 1985) and later Manchester Piccadilly before being closed along with Walkden and Atherton in March 2013.

Having both boxes omitted shouldn't be too much of a problem. Astley controls two signals protecting a crossing and Eccles controls the weaste branch which until recently was OOU.

It would be simple enough to have a black hole of automatic signals.

I'm surprised it isn't on Warrington as it will make for a fairly monotonous solo sim
