Check the size of the Zip file- there's a limit on the maximum size of attachments. Can't remember what it is off hand though- might be 4MB.

If you post the pictures themselves, ensuring that the file name contains no spaces then they will embed into the post and people can view them without having to download them.

Although those on slow internet connections may not thank you for creating a thread of several MB.

How would I fit 15 images into 3 attachment slots?

To start with I'd suggest you compress the images.

Forgive the potentially blunt question but what are the images being posted images of? Why do they need to go up on the forum?

they are high quality printable version of the Carlisle signal map, each image being A4 in size made straight from the pdf for 1980s model

Simple maths, you make 5 posts.

No doubt you find them extremely useful which means that others would probably be glad to see them as well. If they are a valuable resource it would be far more effective to add them to the Manual on the Wiki rather than putting them on a thread in the Forum which before too long will have fallen off most people's radar.

However, can I be a bit forward and ask why would users want to view 15 separate images when they can open up the 1980s signalling plan from the Manual, set the view in their pdf reader to "Actual Size" then get a scrollable image covering the whole of the sim area with readable text and graphics?

And looking to protect the person who originally created the pdf from which you have created your graphics, have you obtained their permission to use their copyrighted work in images you hope to publish?

I wrote the originals; I'm happy for them to be adapted, as long as credit is given where due.

I've just looked at the original PDFs again- the quality isn't great, thanks to the method I was using to make them at the time. I'll probably re-publish them in higher quality, and in a way that allows use of the 'Find' function in the PDF viewer to locate numbers. They also may need an update if anything's changed in the recently released Loader version.

As it's been derived from a .pdf (and god knows what the image in the background I used to generate the pdf was), compression might be tricky- am I right in thinking that compressing something that's already been compressed usually results in a bigger file size than you started with?

Generally, yes.

To OP: I know you mean well but I'm not sure 116Mb of images that are apparently a reproduction of another existing file (which is smaller) is something I particularly wish to host here.

True, I need to look into a more professional file naming structure first for the images.

These are 15 separate images as that allows you to print all of them onto 1 page each reliably instead of relying on software interpretation as to how they print.

There are some changes in the loader version but nothing major that I can see straight away.

Your correct that compression is tricky. So much so that using zip didn't manage to compress them at all. Then again I have the at printer quality which is 300DPI.

Over the next week I will be talking in PMs and get them ready with a google drive sharing link.

I have encountered a runtime error when trying to post http://prntscr.com/ko72rv
GeoffM i am including a copy of the pdf via google drive link so you can test on the local machine to see the exact error details.

I am attempting to attach a 16.7MB PDF of the split signal map.

yes however this is a different error and we havent confirmed what the file size limit is. If it had been the same error then i wouldnt have made my last post but because it was different and took me to a non-custom error page like the error 404 page i thought it would be good to let GeoffM know of the error so he can investigate what happened.

As I said, from past experience I believe the limit is 4MB (just tested, and 3.3MB is fine). 16.7MB is definitely too big.

Please also pay attention to what I wrote above:

The file you've put on Google Drive does not acknowledge the original source of the images.
