Further to Postal's general suggestion the following of which is highly recommended, it has generally been accepted that Royston is the go to learning sim, then I would suggest as the next stage up would be Maidstone East (a larger control area with a fairly regular timetable), Oxted (Will get you used to making regulation decisions for the single lines) and Lancing (You will learn how to get used to using and working level crossings here). However you are of course free to attempt any of the simulations in any order you like.

Welcome to the asylum the inmates of which are 99.9% the friendly type :)

I can point you in the direction of the Wiki page which tells you how to install the core SimSig files and download simulations. Part way down this page is a section titled "Installing Simulations". This tells you how to use the "Check for Updates" button to download simulations.

Welcome to SimSig! Please feel free to introduce yourself/prove you're not a robot by replying below.

Get started by downloading the System Files here, and take a look at the Wiki, in particular the installation guide. You can find a list of simulations here- we recommend Royston to start with, but it's entirely up to you.

Feel free to ask questions/make comments by starting a thread in the appropriate section of the Forum (please keep this thread for introductions only).

Please be aware that your first post will be approved by a moderator, so won't appear immediately.

Enjoy!

Is that the Carmarthen job by any chance?

Hi, Im Adam,

My dad has worked at Warrington power box for many years now and I'm looking at joining signalling too. I would like to try this a lot first and is the perfect chance to try out the job before I commit.

Hi,

The SimSig simulation looks very interesting. I am an avid railway modeller and thought it would be a good way of getting a better understanding of "block signaling" and how the interlocks work on the network. I am hoping that I can incorporate some of these technics into my layout.

Hi My Name is Mark,
I actually work for a compaany that proive CIS for some TOCS and do the map updates on our system so understand the systems quite well.
Only reason I have created an account is I frequent Preston Steam Railway musem in preston and spotted a signalling panel there that needed alot of work and was interested on how it all worked and the sign on it states that it is currently being resored by a team and some co-operation from SimSig.

mark.

Hi Chip

Welcome, you will find a number of simulations that cover various routes that Southern crews will work over, out of interest which depot are you training for?

hi everyone,
love my retirement but keep busy on computer. As an ex transport manager, I love anything to do with passenger transport. So here I am.
Love the old steam train era as I was bought up as a spotter on the local stations as a lad in the 50/60s
