Thanks for arranging this chain, was an enjoyable, although quiet game.

Thanks everyone, a good experience for what was a first time host. Hopefully I get some time in the future to write busier timetables; however for now I will continue with the 11 November date - proved entertaining enough with the failures and such, while allowing a decent single player opportunity to play those sims all alone (for new players or if you wish to chain more than one and play it solo - though who would do that...)

What chaining issues? Your other report in chaining appeared to be resolved. Is this a Sim issue, in which case I need to know about it, or a timetabling issue which I don't?

From spectatiing part of the game, one of the issues observed was Mantis 10391, in relation to trains not stepping past Melksham when its enterd Swindon.

I dont know if there was other issues

James

I believe that Westbury was also seeing a fringe track circuit occupied incorrectly, and all trains entering Westbury from Swindon were entering twice.
This second case strikes me as odd, as I'm sure I've played a Swindon/Westbury chain before without issue.
Swindon connected into Westbury, I'm not sure whether Westbury or another sim in the chain was the master.

It seems to be a sim issue, since now it means the bug can be repeated.

Trains entering Westbury from Melksham were duplicated in the train list (and were showing as "train stopped at SN74/72/70"), and had to be removed before a route for a train towards Swindon could be set, because the track behind SN74 was showing occupied on the Westbury sim, even though it was clear at the Swindon end. See pic. The chain worked fine otherwise.

If you have a save from both sims at this point please post them

I'll pick up the two saves above and see if I can reproduce locally.

Edit: Yes, I've just run the save forward to 11:36 and had 2M08 enter Westbury from Wootton Bassett, whilst the Swindon version of the train is still in the platform at Swindon. The headcode appears in the approach berth, but it is cleared out as soon as the Westbury sim advances the train through Chippenham. The train has then sat at SN74 with the track circuit illuminated, but refusing to move although the slot has been granted on Westbury. As an experiment, I cleared SN74 on Swindon, but this had no effect.
I have then let Swindon's 2M08 approach Chippenham and routed it onto the branch.

The saves attached are at this point.

Continuing on from here, Swindon's 2M08 continues as expected, entering the Melksham line and transferring over to Westbury, where it enters at Thingley Jn (Down Melksham). Westbury's version of 2M08 remains stuck at SN74 with the track circuit at that signal shown occupied.

Right, I have figured out what is going on here now, It appears that the Wootton Bassett Entry point is not being supressed when chained. That appears to be the cause of this. Currently in process of making mantis report.

That would also explain Westbury getting a spurious "6Y15 will be entering your area 33 minutes late" from Swindon, even though the sims were, obviously, chained and said train was running on time.

Thanks,

Alex

And just for documentary purposes, the master sim was Exeter.
