I wouldn't exactly class myself a newcomer as I have been here for coming up to a year (CGG in game), however Im struggling to find a better place to post this. I was wondering what the community reckons is a good first 'big' sim to purchase (I only have Coventry so far), as I can't make up my mind. Quite like something that is complex (I have just about mastered KX singlehanded), but also used in multiplayer a fair deal. My only other thing is I quite enjoy masterminding service recovery, EG in termini or in sims which cover the full service and are therefore a closed system. Any suggestions welcome. Price is not a massive issue, but I can only get one so determined to get the best! I currently have a list of at least 6-8 sims and struggling to narrow further! Cheers all Caspar Log in to reply |

LTS is almost entirely a closed system. Marylebone is a close second for that. Are you intending to run solo? If so, the bigger ones that have ARS would probably be more manageable for you. London Bridge is perhaps the busiest with ARS. Birmingham New Street takes some recovery if there are delays, albeit to the entire service rather than individual services. Probably yes to solo, unless someone happens to be hosting. Hadn't considered Marlybone - will have a look at the demo later. Thank you very much Geoff Log in to reply |

Cardiff Valleys is a good choice for a sort of intermediate level. Lots of trains going to various places which are relatively predictable once you have learnt the pattern. Add in a few delays for an enjoyable challenge. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: MeList |

Carlisle is quite a good solo sim, with delays and problems there’s a lot to do with freight getting in the way and tight timings.
