Assuming all the laptops are on the same local network, all you did is start one game up as a server, and then connect using that laptops local IP Address.

Did you create that network using your computer's own wifi adapter as a hotspot? In that case you will have a different IP address on that interface, which you'd need to check in the adapter settings in Network Settings, I believe. It is at least not the same IP address as you'd have on your wired interface, which SimSig is probably reporting. You could run "ipconfig /all" in CMD to find out - if unsure about the different IP addresses, you could post the output here (just remove the MAC addresses, which can be personally identifiable information). It could also be a firewall setting, by the way. Are you running any firewall application beside Windows firewall? Also if I hosted a MP session on the internet, what IP address do I use? I just want to be sure on how to set it up as I'm moving and want to be sure I know how to set up a MP session both online and over the Internet. Also what is a Internet Gateway? The second address is your public address (i.e. the address your network presents to the rest of the world). Computers not on your network use this address to connect to you. You must also set up port forwarding on your router so that traffic arriving at your router from the rest of the internet on a given port (50505 is the SimSig default) is directed to your computer. Thank you so the only difficult thing to look at is the port forwarding then (depending on level skill) Still least it means I now understand what the two IP addresses are. Howwever what is a Internet Gateway? In simple terms please Log in to reply |

It is the local IP address of your router which your device needs to connect to in order to access the internet.

Something similar to that of Traksy and Open Train Times do with the real NR feeds. James Last edited: 22/12/2018 at 19:04 by pedroathome Reason: None given Log in to reply |
