Just wondering but was there ever any point work from the Down Lines to Platform 1 here at any point in it's life?

I am aware that there was some point work to allow access on and off the St Ives branch there but I think that was lifted in the 70s when the station got remodelled for the wires?

According to this OS Map (1971) there was no bay Platform 1 before the re-modelling (you may need to zoom out to get the map to show). The 1926 version shows a trailing cross-over ladder south of the station. The 1983 version appears to show the layout as depicted in Simsig.

I don't believe so. Station staff say that back in the day when there was a guard + driver, they used to shunt out of 3 onto the down fast, then shunt into 2 and then up to the shunt signal south of Huntington, and back-up into 1. Driver in the front and guard in the back made it a quick move. It can still be done but it requires the driver to change ends, and on 2/365's makes it difficult if all lines are in use!

plt 3 -> shunt 40 -> plt 2 -> shunt 33 -> plt 1
