I fully understand how the idea of lever frames work and as far as I am aware 8K04 is stopped in the UP Platform Loop at Dalmeny to access the Up Yard however I am prevented by setting the route by the Sim telling me "Cannot release frame". The only other train booked though at this time is 1S79-1 which is the Euston to Aberdeen sleeper but that is using the Fife Down line as booked, I think the line is bi-directional at this point but I can't see any conflicting moves which would prevent such a move, indeed I had a sleeper start from the Up Yard and I had no problems setting the route for it to come out and onto Edinburgh so am puzzled by why I cannot set the route for 8K03. Anyone know why this is? Log in to reply |

Sorry, but how do you ensure the crossover to the loop is set to normal? I can see three Ts with a unlighted red circle next to it but they don't stay lit if selected, no routes are selected at the moment. Log in to reply |

Simply ensure that points are not set to enter the loop or cross over from the Winchburgh line. Like this; Planotransitophobic! Log in to reply |

Done that, made no difference what so ever, :( I now have 8K04 running 16 late and in the UPL waiting for the route into the Up Yard but I can't set a route into either Up nor Down Yards! Log in to reply |

Ajax103 The loop needs to be protected before the ground frame is activated so that a train cannot come over the Forth Bridge and divert into the UPL, clashing with any GF moves. Have you made sure that the points at the Fife end of the loop are set to normal and not reverse (i.e. they are set for the main line and not the loop). I've just run a quick test with trains from both ends and can confirm that the GF works exactly as planned as long as the points at the Fife end of the loop are set to normal. The instruction to set the points to normal is included in the Wiki where it reads: "Dalmeny UP Yard Points Up Fife to Up Loop line points must be normal to release." Hope that solves the problem for you. But the train is booked to use the UPL and I can't release the GF then expect to run it as booked, wait for it to stop then release the GF and let it into the Up Yard.

Ajax103 I'm not sure what you are trying to do. The GF should not be activated when there is a train signalled into the loop from the main line as this could cause a potentially dangerous situation (a train moving out of the Yard into the path of a train arriving). The process of events should be: 1) Make sure that ground frame is not activated. 2) Signal train into loop by setting route from EY666 to EY656. 3) When the train has come to a stand in the loop, manually set the points at the Fife end of the loop to normal. 4) Activate the Ground Frame by clicking on the hollow green button. 5) Go to the Show Menu, click on Lever Frames and select Dalmeny Up GF. 6) Move the first slider from top to bottom of the slide and the white button should stop flashing and show as solid. 7) Move the second slider from top to bottom to set the points for the Up Yard. 8) Move the third slider from top to bottom to clear EY655. 9) Sit back and watch 8K04 reverse into the Yard. 10) When the train is in the Yard, return all of the sliders to the top of the slides and right click on the flashing white button. 11) Close down the GF pop-up. If you follow those steps and it is still not working, please report back. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |
