Have registered for this but may end up going to something in Westminster Abbey on the same day. If that goes ahead I will, of course, withdraw.

With just a little over 7 weeks to go until the London meet, just quick reminder that you can sign up here (It's free), and more details about the venue etc can be found here.

I can confirm that at least one new simulation will be previewed at the meet, can I ask that any speculation is confined to the speculation thread?

In a week's time from now, the dedicated team who are providing everything we need for the meet will be on their way to The Walrus and The Carpenter to set things up. So far, 25 people have signed up that they wish to attend. There is still plenty of room and lots of time so if anyone else wants to come along please sign up on the Events page here.

Even if you make a late decision to attend and the registrations have already closed, please don't feel shy about coming along. There is ample space at the venue so there will be plenty of room for you.

Looking forward to this! It coincides quite nicely with a birthday in the evening but I should be able to stay until the posted end of the event.

I regret that a family emergency (don't worry: nobody's dead or in hospital) means I can't attend.

The London meet is in full swing, with just shy of 30 people in attendance.

14 laptops in use, hosting a 175 mile chain from South Wales, through to Stockport via Chester and Northwich. 9Z50 is currently making the end to end journey and was last reported at Llandovery.

The two new simulations on show are:

Chester - covering Chester PSB, Hooton PSB, Ellesmere Port SB, Beeston Castle SB, Mickle Trafford SB, Helsby SB, Frodsham SB, and Norton SB

Cheshire lines - covering Greenbank SB, Plumley SB, Mobberley SB, Deansgate Junction SB, and Northenden Junction SB.

No news on a release date for them yet, and screenshots will be provided later on for those who couldn't attend.

Both Sims are aimed more towards the single player market.

Important question well for me it is, what sims will the two above chain to???

Cheshire lines would chain to Chester, Manchester South, Stockport and whatever sim covers Winsford box.

Chester would chain to sandhills. North Wales coast, North East Wales, (presumably) Crewe, any Warrington PSB based sim and lime St-runcorn.

I'm not involved with them. That's based on what they work to in real life.

Ahh okay, never heard of Cheshire lines so not too sure of the area there, Chester PSB I've heard of though.

Will be interesting to see the screenshots of the sims though when they are uploaded, thanks for answering my question tho.

Cheshire Lines and Chester screenshots attached.

Cheshire Lines covers the mid-Cheshire line, which runs from Chester to Stockport, and simulates Northenden Jn, Deansgate Jn, Mobberley, Plumley West and Greenbank. The simulation chains (subject to the adjacent simulations being compatible) to Stockport, Peak District, Manchester South and Chester. Two eras are simulated: post-1991 which includes control of the Timperley (exclusive)- Altrincham section of Metrolink, and pre-1991, when said line was heavy rail from Cornbrook Junction. Note that pre-1991 is an approximation of that period. The developer is James Pedrick (pedroathome)

Chester, unsurprisingly, covers the area surrounding that city. As well as Chester PSB, Hooton, Beeston Castle & Tarporley, Mickle Trafford, Helsby, Frodsham Jn, Norton and Ellesmere Port boxes are simulated. The simulation chains (subject to the adjacent simulations being compatible) to North East Wales, North Wales Coast, Sandhills, Cheshire Lines and Edge Hill. The developer is Karl Latham (headshot119)

Both simulations are suitable for a single player; Cheshire Lines is the easier of the two.

A good day all round so thanks to Karl, John (Meld) and Alan for doing a lot of hard work to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. There are lots more people in the background who have spent time in writing timetables, testing and validating so that we got two previously unseen simulations which could form part of the grand chain that was set up so thanks to them as well.

The pub looked after us very well (particularly India, our server on the bar upstairs). There is one thing we can do to acknowledge the work India did. There is a staff scheme at the venue where the staff member who receives the most "Wows" in their online customer survey in a month receives a cash prize. This survey can be reached at https://guestsurvey.co.uk/nicholsonspubs. There is a lot of general customer service waffle in the survey but there is one field on the form where you can name the member of staff you would like to recognise because of the service they gave. If you thought we were well treated, I am sure that India would appreciate your vote. There is an added bonus that anyone filling in the survey receives a small voucher from Nicholsons to use in any of their houses.

Finally a reminder that the next meet will be held in Peterborough on 28th. March 2020 and the sign-up sheet will be live from tomorrow.

In the 1991 era should Hales up starter have Altrincham north's distant under it as is the case on the down? The diagram I have shows both boxes working to each other with distants under homes. It appears a green can read onto the next boxes red.

Ah, Cheshire Lines pre-1991 looks interesting. After the Metrolink downgrade, yuk!

May I ask if there will be provision for trains reversing at Altrincham from the Chester direction, as was a notable feature of the rush-hour timetable for many years?

Looks like the mode in the screen grab is late 1980s with the Lymm route closed and Glazebrook route truncated. Is there an earlier mode with those routes open, enabling considerably more freight traffic on the Baguley route?

As ever, well done to the developers for getting this far.

Correct, a distant existed until the boxes were abolished in July 1991. See attached picture from October 1988.

Many thanks to all those involved in the organization and particular thanks to Postal for his very walm welcome (and allowing my use of his laptop to start out). It's the first time I've been able to attend a meet and since I'm now living in the UK I hope to attend quite a few more (even though I actually missed my last train home ).

Enjoyed the meet immensely. The highlight for me was working Chester PSB, which ever since I first visited I've always thought would make a great sim!

Is the plan to have the Runcorn curve newly bidirectionalised for release, so that the new ex-Liverpool services can run? I see from the screenshot (and recall from the meet itself) that it's the older unidirectional configuration right now.

As I said at the meet to a couple of people, a later era will ship on release which includes the resignalling of Frodsham Junction, and the partial redoubling between Chester and Wrexham.
