Pre-purchase question 03/03/2020 at 22:52 #123565

Hello guys,

I would like to ask what does the product description mean by stating

"You are purchasing a license for the Moss Vale preview. Once the full product is released, the price will rise but you will not need to pay any more, so this is an early bird discount."

Is the product currently in an unfinished state then? When can we expect it to be completed?

I am really interested in buying it but if it is not fully ready then perhaps it is safer to go with some other simulation.

Could you please elaborate on the above, what does it mean "preview" in this case?

Thank you kindly!

It has some issues which will be fixed when it's released, which I'm hoping is very soon now. It's still definitely playable though. As you quoted, the price will go up for those who have yet to purchase it. There will not be anything further to pay if you bought it at the discounted price, as a kind of thank you for bearing with us.

All sims can be downloaded and played for a short time before purchasing so you can get a rough idea of the sim.

Thank you for clarifying, appreciate it!

As much as I love UK railways, I find it a superb idea to represent other nations' railroads as well in SimSig and Moss Vale seems to be really complex and challenging one yet not drifting onto the "mission impossible" side. That is what I found after messing around with the "demo" version.

As such I am going to go ahead and purchase this simulation, not only to obtain it at a somewhat discounted price but also to support the idea of developing sims other than UK ones. I also like the fact that this simulation covers a large area, the whole thing goes slowly, but at least slower than most of the shorter simulations.

I do understand that a lot depends on the available resources but it would be fantastic if another real-world timetable would at some point surface itself.

Anyways, too much talk about nothing from my side, thank you again, guys, and have a great day,

Best regards,
Zsolt

Moss Vale is quite playable, however beware of trains running early. If a train is running 1hr early and is timetabled to dwell for 5 minutes, depending on the train number it may halt for 1Hr and 5 minutes. It appears that the core code thinks that 1xxx and 2xxx are British class 1 or 2 pax trains and halt until their departure time, whereas 9xxx trains will halt for a few minutes before proceeding.

This should be fixable by having the timetable use custom "Class of Service" rules.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.
