In the Westbury sim it seems that the lengths for 'Up Rec 211-LOS' and 'Up Rec 207-LOS' have been switched around, 211-LOS should be the longer one. And the length of the branch loop at East Somerset Jn of 531m does not correspond to the sim, trains over 600m fit in the loop in the sim. (I think this is a sim bug as the loop seems to be between 500 and 600 m in aerial images, just as the sim manual states.) FWIW the current version of the sim gives 400m for the section between 207 and LOS, 400+60+340=800m for the three between 211 and LOS, and 750m at the branch loop at East Somerset Jn, as determined via https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/PostView/122537 . Yeah, something is going on here. Though I wouldn't discount the possibility of a mismatch between the data used to make the sim - which might very well be correct at one point - and the numbers that went onto the wiki. Thanks for the explanation. The main line between signal 77 and 224 at East Somerset Jn is 650 m in SimSig. And the track circuits TXF and TVT over the points on either side, are equally long for either route. That means somebody's been creative with geometry: the inside of the curve is 100m longer than the outside of the curve. Also, the area has changed indeed as the two Up sidings have been removed in 2010 (and a freight train subsequently derailed at that spot in 2017), but reading that report the other points don't appear to have been moved at all in the period 2010-2017. I have been rebuilding Westbury using data that I've been supplied with in the same way I did Exeter. Unfortunately, that data only covered the Reading part of the Sim (i.e. to Newbury). If I can get the rest then I can check everything. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
