I'm thinking of running an all day multiplayer on Kings Cross, most likely with the 2020 Monday - Friday timetable, and medium - high failure rates to keep things interesting. The main bulk of the game would be a Saturday (Most likely 27th June) running for 16 hours from 08:00 BST until 00:00 BST, with two 30 minute breaks, one at approx. 11:00 and one at approx. 17:30. I could also ideally do with a few people the day before (Friday 26th) to run from TT start until approx. 06:00, to get us to a better start position for the main session, this would be an evening session probably 19:00 BST, and another session the day after (Sunday 28th) to run for the last few hours to the TT end. This again would be an evening session on the Sunday, probably 18:00 BST. I can't go ahead unless there is enough interest to cover ideally all panels during the day, the game would be split into 3 hour sections, with separate games listed so I can see peoples availability, and panel preferences. Based on that I will create a roster for the day, trying to give everyone a go at their preferred panels. Communication for this game will be via Team Speak, it's okay if you don't have a microphone as long as you can hear what people are saying and can reply via text on Team Speak, F10 would NOT be in use. Just a little side note, Kings Cross with high failure rates can be very intense, so if you don't have much experience maybe consider opting for a smaller panel such as Welwyn earlier on. I will give everyone a chance where I can on their preferred panel, however please ensure you know how to operate your rostered panel(s) before the day. If you would be interested in any part of this game please either add to this thread or press 'thank you' on this post. If people are interested I will put up the games for registering before the end of this week, and post the roster around Tuesday 23rd. Thank You. I'd be interested in it, but I couldn't commit to specific times as yet as I dont know whether or not I will be working (and if so what times - things are very fluid due to Covid and we are having very last minute roster changes etc). I'd also be happy to cover any hosting/control roles if you wanted to schedule yourself a break! Just a thought - perhaps medium/high failures may be a bit much for such a long game. As we have found on recent sessions it's fun for a few hours but could become a total mess (and a bit unrealistic), it does become a bit tedious dealing with TCF after TCF all day long. Something with delays may be more interesting as it gives the regulation options and the strategy of working out what to prioritise. That bad weather scenario we played on KX previously was interesting. Of course if you set normal failures you can always change the settings for failures/delays in F3 as you go depending how it's going, rather than being tied into endless failures! Just my thoughts. Hope they're of use. User | Multiplayer Host | Timetable Writer Log in to reply |

Thank you Andy, you're right to be honest I think it would be too much, like you said bad weather might be a better option. I won't be publishing the roster until next Tuesday or Wednesday, not sure if you'll know by then! Log in to reply |

What's your opinion on chaining it with Peterborough? In my experience the King's Cross panels can be too few for such big games.

Bear in mind the length of the game day, it is unlikely people will want to do the entire 16 hours - if KX was split into 3 shifts then 15 signalers would be required, plus reliefs.

If it's the 27th, I'll probably have to pass - we'll be way too busy unpacking stuff from the house move that day

The idea of a Kings Cross / Peterborough / Royston all day chain is really exciting. Perhaps with a longer lead time we can organise it? Do we have a compatible timetable for all 3 sims? Log in to reply |

But definitely something to look into. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: leigh |

Thank you to everyone for showing interest in this session, it should be a great day (3 days). I have done my best to accommodate requests for panels etc, and to give everyone a good chance. The roster is now available at: https://1drv.ms/x/s!AhS8Qr_AebzkgjqgaCDqwd0sCi2w?e=uDyyDt A couple of notes for the roster: The sim time listed is what it is planned to be. If people have connection problems or hosting problems arise, this may get a bit behind, in that case the last session at 21:00 will run until a sim time of 22:00. The 1st reserve is the first person we will change if someone drops out, so if you are down as a 1st reserve please can you check the roster before the day to see if you have been assigned. On the day there is no requirement to be connected or on Team Speak, however it would be helpful if you have access to SimSig messages, so we could contact you if someone fails to show at the last minute. If you realise you are going to be unavailable for one of your shifts, please message me, or post on this thread ASAP, so I can find cover. If anyone has any questions, or any requests, please join Team Speak tonight (23/06/2020) from 19:00 onwards, where I am hosting Manchester Picc, or if you're unable to then you can reply to this thread, or send me a private message. Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm, and I hope to see you at the weekend! Log in to reply |

I'd just like to say thank you to everyone who joined Kings Cross over the weekend, it was a great success, with almost everyone on at the correct times, and it made it a thoroughly enjoyable day (and Friday/Sunday). This concept of a multiplayer 'megaday' running the whole timetable has definitely proved popular and is something I would be happy to do again, and I would welcome suggestions of sims to use for a future 'megaday'.

Thanks for hosting it Oliver, was good to be a part of it, and interesting to keep an eye on it during sessions I wasnt rostered for whilst doing other things. I think its something that is good as an occasional thing, too often would take the interest out of it. I also think it's more manageable as one sim rather than a chain, perhaps Manchester Picc could be a good one for next time as there are plenty of panels and some can be doubled up as you will always be at risk of people letting you down.
