As I have rather more time on my hands than expected, every "heritage" timetable written for Piccadilly is getting a once-over and revisions where necessary. The main aim is to sort out the two very irritating issues with platform 9 in 1990s mode (actually the trackplan for 1998-2008). First, trains of correct length block platforms 10/11. In reality this couldn't happen as p10/11 had access via platform 13 up to 1998, not p9. Second, trains using the "long platform 9" don't get TRTS indications and are easily forgotten at peak times. So, every timetable I've written will be getting amended as required so that only "short platform 9" is used in normal timetable working. Basically this means artifically shortening trains using platform 9. Not ideal, but I've decided it's the least worst solution. If other bugs need attention, I'll do my best to fix those at the same time. Please let me know of any you find. The current state of play is: 1969 Weekdays - not yet started: expect to do from 14/04 1969 Saturday - not yet started: expect to do from 17/04 1971 - new version 1.2 with Mods for approval. 1977 - old version 1.2 (winter timetable) superseded by two new simulations, based on the busier July timetable. 1977 Summer Weekday v1.0 now available for download 1977 Summer Saturday v1.0 now available for download 1989 - not yet started: will be the most complex fix and likely last to be done. No estimate for revision 1991 - not yet started: expect to do so from 22/04 1993 - no known issues. No revision envisaged. 1996 - no known issues. No revision envisaged. This list and associated dates will be updated as work progresses. Well, no battle plan survives first contact with the enemy. On starting 1969's revisions, I realised that a key WTT was not to hand, so 1969 is on a back-burner. Instead, 1991 has been fixed and 1989 is starting to get attention. The current state of play is: 1969 Weekdays - stalled: no date for new version 1969 Saturday - stalled: no date for new version 1971 - new version 1.2 now available for download 1977 - old version 1.2 (winter timetable) superseded by two new simulations, based on the busier July timetable. 1977 Summer Weekday v1.0 now available for download 1977 Summer Saturday v1.0 now available for download 1989 (The Whole Picture) - revisions in progress: expect completion by 24/04 1989 (The Southern Part) - revisions in progress: expect completion by 24/04 1989 (The Northern Part) - no known issues. No revision envisaged. 1989 (The Oxford Road Part) - no known issues. No revision envisaged. 1991 - new version 1.1 now available for download. 1993 - no known issues. No revision envisaged. 1996 - no known issues. No revision envisaged. Another week in lockdown and 1989 has been updated as promised. All 4 simulations have ended up with some revisions as the work provided an opportunity to add two more DPU workings that affect all parts of the SimSig area. No forecast for revising the 1969 pair, though both are eminently usable. Social isolation affects even SimSig development.... The current state of play is: 1969 Weekdays - stalled: no date for new version 1969 Saturday - stalled: no date for new version 1971 - new version 1.2 available for download 1977 - old version 1.2 (winter timetable) superseded by two new simulations and no longer available to download 1977 Summer Weekday v1.0 available for download 1977 Summer Saturday v1.0 available for download 1989 (The Whole Picture) - new V2.0 available for download 1989 (The Southern Part) - new V2.0 available for download 1989 (The Northern Part) - new V2.0 available for download 1989 (The Oxford Road Part) - new V2.0 available for download 1991 - new version 1.1 available for download. 1993 - no known issues. All the timetables that needed attention for platform 9 related issues have now received their makeover. The weekday 1969 update is now available to download: the Saturday version should be available very soon. In every case, users need to read the "Signalbox Special Instructions" in the General tab of each timetable. The current state of play is: 1969 Weekdays - v1.2 available for download 1969 Saturday - v1.1 submitted for Mods approval 1971 - new version 1.2 available for download 1977 - old version 1.2 (winter timetable) superseded by two new simulations and no longer available to download 1977 Summer Weekday v1.0 available for download 1977 Summer Saturday v1.0 available for download 1989 (The Whole Picture) - new V2.0 available for download 1989 (The Southern Part) - new V2.0 available for download 1989 (The Northern Part) - new V2.0 available for download 1989 (The Oxford Road Part) - new V2.0 available for download 1991 - new version 1.1 available for download. 1993 - no known issues. Currently playing the 1991 v1.1 timetable on v5.6 of the simulator. Things are running much smoother thanks to the changes made for trains using P9. However, I do have a couple of queries... 1. Now up to 9.30am and I've not had any trains enter from either Darwen or Chorley. Day of the week is Tuesday. 2. Where should light locos for Longsight CMD be routed ? Given they exit from MP44 I tried routing them in that depot entrance (which also makes sense given they have path AND line code of UG at Longsight North) but they all call up and query the route. Edit: Never mind I did something silly Last edited: 27/08/2020 at 06:41 by swiftaw Reason: None given Log in to reply |

On the 1991 timetable, 6f75 wasn't entering, so I looked at the timetable and it gave me a validation error.

Hi - I'm afraid none of the heritage timetables work properly under the new ARS version of Picadilly. ARS has introduced several problems that didn't previously exist, including missing routes and extra locations that have no relevance. Some issues I can fix myself as timetable writer, but only when I have time. Others I'm reliant on the simulation developers fixing and over those I have no control. Unfortunately, ARS is unsuitable for the heritage timetables. User intervention is required for many, many movements. The need to adapt timetables for ARS is not a particularly good use of my time. I will update where possible, but it's not a priority. If you still have access to the former, non-ARS vesrion 1.4 of Piccadilly (perhaps via your own backups), heritage timetables continue to work close to perfectly with it. I'll post more when I have something to announce. 1989 will likely be the first revised, ARS-compatible (but not ARS recommended) reissue. Thanks. I always run with ARS off anyway. I also think I have a copy of v1.4 of the sim somewhere in my backup, so I should be able to run the legacy timetables with that. Last edited: 27/08/2020 at 18:09 by swiftaw Reason: None given Log in to reply The following user said thank you: whatlep |
