Hello, I have just downloaded SimSig again and I am missing the telephone and incident report graphics and all the signal posts. Any help would be appreciated. Sam Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Two thoughts here, Firstly, assuming that this happens for you every time, and secondly, unsure if you've tried this, but have you tried reinstalling the system files? James Log in to reply |

You're also missing some signal stems, and arrows on yards and bays. Also the signal box icon next to the West Yard is mangled. We had problems in a distant past when people with Windows Vista were not able to see these arrows and had to click around to guess where they were. But from your screenshot it's apparent that you use Windows 10. Did you perhaps reload a save made by an earlier version of SimSig? A while ago, somewhere in the 4.x versions there was an update that broke signal stems on old saved games. AJP in games Log in to reply |

Are you using a mobile version of windows? That looks to be a very small screen resolution, and the font characters that are missing all in the extended ASCII range. I have a hunch some more lightweight operating systems don't access the extended ASCII character map; but there is zero technical knowledge behind that hunch, and assumes your operating system. I think the pencil icon in the system tray indicates that we're dealing with a touchscreen with a pen, so probably a tablet indeed. Nevertheless tablets should be capable of displaying languages other than English.

Thank you very much for all the responses. Yes, I did load a save from another pc so that could be the issue but it happens every time. I don’t believe I am running a mobile version of Windows and it is not a tablet. Strangely before I updated everything was fine on the old loader. So I have no idea! Log in to reply |

Can you open up Character Map (press the Windows key and start typing Chara... and it should appear), then select the SimSigV2 font, and see if you see graphics symbols? For me the first line starts with "!" and ends with "4", meaning the extended character set graphics start near the end of the 5th line (0x80 onwards).

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Sam Log in to reply |

Can you follow the steps given here and when you reach step #7, check whether the Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support option is enabled? If it is, deactivate it and restart your computer.

Try typing `charmap.exe` on the start menu instead and then press "Enter", this should start the Character Map tool. Those for SIMSIG do show up however. Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Last edited: 26/10/2020 at 07:39 by alvinhochun Reason: None given Log in to reply |
