Hi all! I have just been playing Wembley Mainline when 6O62 arrived into the area over two hours early. I was making arrangements to have it sit on one of the goods lines around Wembley/Willesden when I happened to notice its composition, namely: two Class 68s and three FNAs. This got me thinking as to what would be done in real life. Surely holding nuclear flasks in a random siding in Wembley wouldn't be the smartest thing in the world to do! Would a signaller let this train run even though it is so far ahead of time? It is 4 o'clock in the morning, after all! Thanks for your thoughts. Mark (Gwasanaethau). Log in to reply |

The Nuclear Flask train is treated no differently as any other train conveying Dangerous Goods in regards regulation. If it is running early it can be held out of the way in a convenient loop, or at a regulation point. The Nuclear flask train is totally safe, safer than a train of tanks full of aviation fuel.

The flask is an extremely important train. It does get relief in the Wembley Area but generally runs early. Log in to reply |
