I've made a few purchases in the past and on each occasion have received an email receipt from PayPal very promptly, usually within minutes. It doesn't really concern me yet but I was wondering if something has happened to their system as it's now been several hours since the transaction. PayPal occasionally lags behind sending their emails, sometimes hours. I haven't received my copy of yours yet either, but I did from someone a couple of hours before yours.

The fact you got the licenses almost immediately means your payment was authorised as PayPal doesn't do the exchange of messages necessary to issue a license without such an authorised payment. That part is critical and likely gets high priority. An email receipt is a much lower priority, not quite so mission critical though still probably legally required in many jurisdictions. And mail servers can be a bit slow sometimes. I eventually got my copy last night which is one of the longest delays I've experienced. Again, this has nothing to do with SimSig. PayPal generate the emails on their end and send direct to you (and a copy to me). SimSig Boss Log in to reply The following user said thank you: bugsy |

When I first used email, the modem in the office only dialled out between midnight and 6 a.m. If the email was going to the USA, it went via relays that would take a few hours. So even if the recipient replied immediately, I wouldn't get an answer until two days after I'd sent the email. And this was what we viewed as normal. I needed to get some CAD data over to a circuit board manufacturer quickly, and we worked out that it was quicker to put a floppy disc in my pocket and to drive 20 miles over there than to send it by direct modem (this was before email or the internet appeared at work). Adverts for PCB makers used to include their modem settings and a dial-in number. Otherwise it was put it in the post along with the paper order. Bill Log in to reply |

When I was in Junction Road, every freight train had to be advised verbally to South Tottenham, Gospel Oak or Engine Shed using the omnibus phone. (And it was only about five years earlier that train running on the GN Main Line was reported using the single-needle telegraph as described here https://signalbox.org/branch-lines/the-speaking-telegraph/ ) Log in to reply The following user said thank you: mldaureol |
