Kingmoor main possession - Awaiting slot for yard 23/06/2021 at 08:47 #140146

I've searched to see if this has been answered before, can't find a question, but if there is one - sorry.

I've started the 79-80 Fri timetable with Kingmoor up and down under possession. All trains therefore need to go through the yard if they are timetabled to go north of the yard. The WIKI says they the yard will 'see' them and allow them in. I've tried that and 30 minutes and nothing. So I restarted and this time phoned for permission to enter. Was given permission to send to 1-5 recessing sidings, and again I've waited 30 minutes without a slot being granted. What am I doing wrong - at this rate this scenario is unplayable - I can never get a train through the yard to go north.

Thanks

Sometimes this also happens with a train that is booked for the yard. In my case, it was one of the shunters, 9Tsomething, going from Kingmoor Depot to the Down Goods (DA line code in TT). It just sat there waiting forever. I phoned the yard, they told me to send it to 1-5 recessing, but no slot was granted for that either. When I routed the train towards UD1 and UD2, or onto the mainline, it called wrong routes for both.

Did you run it in the right era?

The slot should be automatically granted in the 80s era, the phonecall is only required for the reduced yard operating in the modern era.

Hi, thanks - yes 1980's era selected. No problems option other than the Kingmoor blockage scenario selected. TORR on.

Hi Steve L.

Have you got a .ssg (save game) available to upload here?

Was this the 1979 TT? If so, I have never seen the problem in over 1000 hours of testing. Have you a saved game?

It was quite a while ago (~2 weeks?) so I'll have to look for it. I'll get back to you.

I was just about to say that John, but you beat me to it. Furthermore that timetable was never written to incorporate line closures or platform closures. But I've never had that issue either whilst testing that 79-80 TT or playing it on multiplayer or on my own.

Nope, can't find a save of it anymore. I recall that I just ended up removing the train via F2. All other trains were accepted into the yard like normal. I think even one that arrived later than the shunter, but before I deleted the shunter.

To clarify, this was without any line closure. The shunter was booked for Kingmoor Yard, via the DA line.

Hi guys. Without too much fuss, my tread seems to have been hijacked by a supplementary question only marginally related to my query. Can we return to my question, the actual subject of the tread - anyone any idea why I'm not getting into the yard. I've run the same sim without the possession and the slots drop in just as I'd expect. Thanks.

Do you have a saved game with it in that state that the experts can use to investigate?

EDIT: Scratch that I see you have already, apologies that’s the issue with the tangential hijacking.

You won't be able to route anything into the Yard unless it's got a TT into the yard. The slot won't be given.
Unfortunately following the instructions on the manual have also failed whilst I was running your save.

I've logged a mantis ticket regarding your post and the other findings I've came across.
For this specific scenario to work, you would have to edit the TTs for each train not booked through Kingmoor to exit and I think create a TT for them to enter again, certainly not something that a user would expect to have to do of course.

Sorry about this.

When diverting trains through Kingmoor Yard, I make sure that the location "Kingmoor Marshalling Yard" is manually added to the relevant train TT and then the Yard Controller seems to recognise this.

Mods feel free to prune this discussion to another thread...

This discussion rang a bell or two and it turns out I have an old save of this precise situation - 9T34 has entered at Kingmoor Depot Dn and wants the DA for the Marshalling Yd.

Have had this issue a few times and it always appears to be trains at CE464 wanting the DA. No slot is granted and so after a while a call to the Yard is made. Permission is given in the Phone window for Dn Recess but no slot is granted again.

Save attached - unfortunately no save before 9T34 entered is available.

Thanks for looking at it, and thanks for helping me understand that I wasn't being completely unhinged. Carlisle 79-80 is tough enough without a scenario, I just wanted to up the ante a bit - just not that much!!!

Thanks again

I believe there's no need for two separate TTs. You can just specify the Kingmoor Yard location in between Caldew Jn and Floriston in the original timetable.

Correct in this instance.

Done a bit of testing and issue raised on Mantis (#33912). It does not happen every time a train enters from Kingmoor Depot. For example I imagine the issue would have been reported from earlier in the day if 9T32/TRIP32DMX had not run correctly. I've also created a single train TT for 9T34/TRIP34H and this has the slot granted immediately on entry. Saved game from @Soton_Speed and single train TT uploaded to Mantis report to assist in investigation.

Also thanks to Dionsysusnu for his report(s).
