Saw a link to this article in a Tweet on Twitter recently and certainly found it to be interesting reading so I thought I'd share it with my fellow SimSiggers - it is railway related and additionally some may find the picture interesting (the big-ish looking station on the closest monitor looks like Didcot to me(?)). Thoughts, comments, replies, etc., etc., of-course welcomed. (a Tweet is a post to someone's Twitter page/profile, a bit like a status update on Facebook. It's also a bit like posting a message in the Shout Box here, sort of. A definition found online is: "A tweet is a post or status update on Twitter, a microblogging service.") - Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for. TRUST is a text based, almost command line, style system. It has no mapping function. The shot is certainly CCF - the graphics aren't bad enough to be P2! Log in to reply |

Right from that photo, it is determined that she has two monitors running CCF, the monitor at the end is running the List function of P2 which shows at a glance how on time certain services are running and the Quail book for the Western region is in front of her,

What do Real Controllers do and how are they different from TOC Controllers? Also what are the "Shift Managers" duties in the Larger Power Boxes? Please.

By real controllers I assume you mean NR ones. Well, very simply.. Network Rail - Incident controllers who deal with the infrastructure - any failures or incidents (Fatalities, Tresspass, bridge strikes) Train running controllers - oversee the train service,liasing with the TOC's, inputting schedules, dealing with tain failures TOC's (They vary in titles but the general theme is the same) Train Service Manager - Runs the trains, liasing with stock/crew controllers to provide the service, or deciding which to cancel Stock/Maintenence Contoller - Ensures stock is service/repaied and provided for each train Crew Controller - Responsible for any crewing issues and ensuring that each train has crew provided Customer Infomation Controller-Ensures infomation is diseminated tpo the public regarding their trains and arrangeing replacement road transport.
