In the attached screenshot you can see 2O17 waiting at a red signal. It’s my fault because I let 0M22 leave the line from Upper Holloway too early. IRL, if a signaller was stupid enough to do what I have done, then talk 2O17 past the red signal and draw up to the next red to save a bit of time, would he be invited for a cup of tea accompanied by a stern talking to and perhaps given a warning? ... 100% tea and no biscuits. The interlocking is there for a reason and shouldn't be bypassed.

That's definitely not a reason to instruct a driver to pass a signal at danger my friend! Drivers are only given permission to pass signals at danger for the following reasons: train failures, track circuit failures, level crossing failures, points failures when secured by a points operator on the ground, etc, etc! As you may have gathered by now, this is not used for saving time due to a train regulating error!! Keith Palmer, retired Preston PSB signaller. Log in to reply |

Remember in Simsig the train will never* pass the signal at danger, but in real life it is a possibility, however remote. The overlap is there for a reason. * there are ways to make one but in normal play they won’t. Last edited: 27/02/2022 at 08:17 by Stephen Fulcher Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Thanks for your replies. I thought that it would be a definite no-no and you have now clearly explained why. By the way. I waited for the signal to clear. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |
