Hi, It would be nice to have trains that are seeded on AB distants automatically interposed on the next available signal with TCB. E.g. seeded at WY16 would interpose at WY15. Not sure if this requires sim-specific code or if it's a generic core enhancement (which could also apply to Related signals). TD's already step up when TOL happens (albeit by passing the signal in rear) and seeding also activates the TOL state. Thanks Jamie Jamie S (JAMS) Log in to reply |

Distant signals do not have berths (generally). I would recommend seeding the train at the home signal. Log in to reply |

I believe you can already specify a distance from the relevant Home signal for the train to be seeded at. You could in principle enter the distance between the Home and Distant signals, so that the TD is interposed at the Home while the train itself is at the Distant.

It would require a core code change to allow a sensible implementation. It's not unique to AB simulations either, you have the same with distant signals in TCB areas. Seeding at a stop signal is always recommended, or you can end up with two in a bed situations. You will always struggle (perhaps a dramatic word) to in AB areas, or TCB areas with extremely long sections (Looking at you Sandhills > Burscough Bridge, or Wigton > Carlisle) to seed exactly where the train needs to be, wait to time at the first booked call works well, or you'll just need to accept a little early or late running. However some sims do seed at the 'distant' and TD's behave as expected, tested on Westbury at 47 and 47R, up line west of Castle Cary. However long seed gaps can cause issues with ARS sims, care needed in making sure that the train does not enter off route. Log in to reply |

I've also noticed in some cases, seeding or interposing at a repeater will insert the TD at the automatic signal before the repeater.

I'll just emphasize again, for seeding at distant signals (signals which are incapable of showing a stop aspect) to work sensibly it would require a core code change. Seeding at stop signals is the recommended method. "Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer Log in to reply |
